Default Dougie Hamilton sets a new career high of 43 points

was considering putting this on the Dougie Hamilton trade thread, but I didn't want to carry on a mega-thread with a different context about him.

What a season it's been for him. Very slow start for him, but he's stepped up big ever since. Still can't comprehend what a trade that was.

Career high in goals (11) and points (43).

Excluding the beginning of the season he's been as advertised.

He's going to be a great player for us.

Yes, he has work to do getting better in his own end, but so many people forget he's 23. Same age as Wotherspoon, only 6 months older than Kulak.

That's called context, and it's often missed by a large contingent of hockey fans.

Getting him for a 1st and two 2nds after most of his development was already done was and remains a complete steal IMO. Those type of defencemen are rarely available.

Hamilton has had a better season at age 22 than Brodie did, playing roughly a shift less per game.

The Dougie trade is a George Clooney level heist.

June Birthday, that's right!

Either way, he's still a kid, and a dominant NHL offensive d-man at 22.

He'll tighten up his game and be an all-star for years to come.

I know, sarcasm. But he's probably close to even since December when he started figuring out his game here.

Quite the change from how he was perceived at the beginning of the year.

Crazy to think he is only 22. My goodness. Still a couple years away from his true prime years. Once him, Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett all come together, watch out.

He was a huge hole that Treliving filled using a mid 1st and 2 mid 2nds. The team had some
Nice D prospects but no one in the same age as Monahan and Gaudreau. Started off really slow but proved this system really works for him by still scoring a career high. Not that he is settled 55-60pts is realistic next year

Anyone who typed out the phrase "Bouwmeester 2.0" should be taken out back behind the woodshed.

Ha ha! I see what you did there!

(That was my 40% off jersey purchase...can't wait to wear it around Winnipeg this summer!)

Players having career years:

Dougie Hamilton
Mark Giordano
Sean Monahan
Johnny Gaudreau
Mikael Backlund
TJ Brodie
Joe Colborne

Is that not the CORE of the Flames future??

Others had career years too but it doesn't really make sense to count the Ferlands and the Bennetts quite yet. Although Bennett with 18 goals and 18 assists, 36 points is pretty awesome too.

Things are looking bright!
