I didn't know that. After a quick Google it looks like I can. Thanks!

Isn't Strava just a good way to know where people with nice bikes live, and a pattern of when they usually aren't home?

You can set a home base in strava and it leaves out a kilometre (I believe) radius around your address that isn't included in your maps.

Did my first commute of the year yesterday, and just joined the CP Strava club.

Edit: I'm a pretty casual rider, last year I was going for 3x weekly commuting on the bike. Hoping to start that up again next week.

I hate the wind, so the past few days I wimped out and didn't ride. Yeah, I'd rather ride in the rain and snow than the wind.

I made up for it, though, with some ball hockey, team handball and volleyball.

I brought the bike to work and will ride home (27km one way), so looking forward to that. It's looking out to be great next two days.

I discovered this feature the other day and you can adjust the radius.

My super long commute is a turnoff as well (about 25 one way). Trying to go three times a week.

My 14 year old got his first job - bike mechanic at Bow Cycle. So proud. My first job was dishwasher.

below is a picture of my 2013 RM Altitude 730 along with a list of my upgrades/investments (going from memory). I have tried to keep my upgrades to Race Face (RF) where possible only because I am a weenie that way:

  • rf sixC carbon handlebar - 35 mm (made a bit of a mistake with this purchase as I got a flat bar and not a riser)
  • rf lockon grips in blue
  • RF Atlas stem (something short ~ 10 mm or so)
  • Shimano SLX brakes, with ice tech discs and finned pads
  • RF Atlas pedals
  • RF respond cranks
  • giant contact dropper post - 100 mm
  • bontranger affinity saddle
  • shimano xt rims and hubs
  • tires are nobby nics - tubeless
  • rf turbine front chainring - 2x set up 36t and 24 (I think)
  • shimano xt rear cassette - with a wolftooth 42t gear
  • shimno xt chain
  • sram x9 long cage rear duerailler - replaced the pully wheels with cool KNC blue ones with blue bolts

Congrats to your son. Nice gig for a 14 year old. He is going to learn a tonne!

He, or anyone else on this board who is a wrench, may be interested in the "Professional Bicycle Mechanics Association" group on facebook.

I have no affiliation with the group other than belonging to it.

Andy

I don't ride much since my bike got stolen and I haven't replaced it yet (perhaps this summer).

But is it normal that the cops are out with radar guns shooting bikers on the river path and giving tickets?

Saw them this morning under the 10th st bridge while walking to work.

ya, they like to camp there because it is a downhill into it, which makes it near impossible to stay under 10km/h. So they get to say they had a successful day. They also like to go by Eau Claire.

Haha, let me know what the ROI on your "investment" is. I, too, use that word to rationalize endless Jenson spending.

Your pic ain't working. Want to see.

Made the trek into work this morning. The 24km was colder than I thought it would be. Shorts wasn't a good idea but they hopefully will be this afternoon.

I passed quite a few people going the other way on Nose Creek this morning who were wearing shorts, fingerless gloves and short sleeves. There sure was a lot of pink skin and unhappy looking cyclists.
