The end of that article points something out I've heard echoed a few times that bears repeating: Flint doesn't deserve this.

They've been a great host to an OHL team, and I fear that the city will be punished for this. Flint is a city that needs a team like this to rally around, and this garbage aside, they've done a great job at that so far.

I really hope that Branch finds a way to keep the team in Flint (I never thought I'd say that...), but that means finding an owner who wants them there.

Well, I suppose they could allow him to continue to signing cheques if he promises to dial the crazy down to a more manageable level.

I hope that's possible. The way he's acted recently, and his recent litigious reaction implies that may be unlikely.

I also wonder what his plans were with the team in the first place when his son no longer played there. Maybe him being removed now and finding an owner who wants a team in Flint could be the best long-term solution for them anyway. Without all this blow-up, we could have been seeing The Captain selling the team in 2-3 years anyway.

His kid isn't close to OHL calibre. That's why the Captain bought the team in the first place. There are no teams that would want him.

Can he be traded to HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk.

And no that was not me pounding my face into my keyboard to randomly generate something that might sound like a KHL team, thats a real team.

News Update

Agents telling the Flint Firebirds not to bother selecting their clients in the up coming OHL draft

https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/jr...ons&soc_trk=tw

Quote:
According to Hockeyprospects.com's final rankings, Kirill Nizhnikov of the Toronto Junior Canadiens is the top-rated skater while TheScout.ca has defenceman Ryan Merkley atop its rankings for this year’s draft. The Guelph Storm hold the No. 1 pick overall followed by the Sudbury Wolves with the second selection.

Nizhnikov’s agent, Darren Ferris, told Yahoo he’s already informed the Firebirds not to select the 16-year-old, if he’s still available.

“With Flint, we've already told them it's just not going to work,” Ferris said this week. “Under other circumstances it might work, but at this point, it's not something that's going to happen.”
Quote:
Ferris isn’t the only agent that told Flint not to select their clients. One agent, who requested anonymity, said: “It's our job, making sure that we're educating our clients.

“I advised (Flint) weeks back not to select any of our players,” he added. “Under the circumstances, right now, we're not comfortable having our kids report to Flint.”

Another agent told Yahoo that until the ownership situation in Flint is resolved, he wouldn’t be allowing any of his clients to sign with the OHL club.

“The league is either going to decide to operate (the team) indefinitely, which I don’t think that they can,” the agent said. “That will create problems with the owners. Or they need to bring in the proper people or the owner does to run the organization in a professional way.

“If that’s not happening, we can’t put our clients at risk in a situation like that. Until that changes, that one team out of the 20 in the league is a franchise that everybody will likely try to steer clear of.”

Flint holds the 3rd and 5th OA picks in the draft.

ok CP this is our chance, if we can get a bunch of members to kick in some cash, do some kickstarter magic, CP can own a OHL hockey team.

We can name it the Flint Suck it Oilers.

We'll have a annual poll for who's going to be the GM and the President for the year.

We already have a stats department here and probably a 5000 member large scouting department.

We can put a weblink to the forum right on their helmets.

When we win the mem cup in a couple of years, we can do a SP bar gather and share the win while scoping out chicks.

I firmly believe that it already happened to an extent, and Chia and T-Mac owe their jobs to McMcBain

I wonder about that at times too. The joke is still on McDavid because it didnt work.

Revamped roster, new coaching staff, all new management same old Dead Fataing Last.

They're like the Flint Firebirds of the NHL.

they'll be so bad that the league gives them 2 top 5 picks? I agree, it's getting close.

Added bonus - we can probably get them to throw in houses for all of us too.

I actually meant to say that player agents are going to tell Oilers to not pick their clients for fear of ruining their development.

Only $5000 for a trap house?! The potential ROI is huge. I'll kick in a 20.

Well neither of them are really that far fetched. I mean if one of your clients is drafted by the oilers, they're almost guaranteed to get a huge contract out of it so why wouldn't you want them there.
