My big thing against movies like this is why do vehicles, that are only intended to be driven by robots, need steering wheels? Okay and that's only trying to wrap my head around why a vehicle built in the future would have to be driven by a robot? Wouldn't it just be self controlled? Why does it have seats? Ugh. So horrible.

Are you talking about the scene at the beginning of the movie? I wrote that part off as re-purposed vehicles that humans built or were intended to be driving by cyborgs. I do recall wondering about the same thing though.

This one is easy, it's like the AI is mimicking the humans to be more human like and adaptable. They could easily control the cars, but then that would make them more robot like.
It's kind of like that AI that Microsoft built that became a racist in 7 minutes and started tweeting out racist stuff. That's good AI work, as humans in their nature are always able to identify and point out difference, and then insult it and put it down.
So AI Terminators driving around cars is completely logical.

I suppose the goal of AI would be to be able to distance itself as much as possible from the binary number crunching, man-made device it is so the closer it modeled itself to a human the closer it could consider itself a superior organic rather than just hardware.

With respect to why do robots need steering wheels/chairs. This wasn't the first time I had seen it, but Genisys had it and jogged my memory.
I guess if they had repurposed the vehicles, that's an okay explanation.

It's so shockingly horrible what that thing started saying, I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it. Like you could combine Louis CK, Doug Stanhope and Bill Burr, and still not get something that offensive.

Interesting to hear positive reviews, I may have to check this out. I think this film, like BvS, may have suffered from a really bad trailer which gave away the major plot twist.
Also, that Tay thing is hilarious. Wasn't the issue though that tweeters figured out how to get it to "repeat after me" not that it actually developed into a racist, sexist, homophobic AI?

I was shocked when I watched this movie. I thought it would be terrible and wasn't expecting much. I loved it. If you haven't seen it you are missing out

I agree that this one is surprisingly enjoyable. Although I found the acting pretty mediocre all the way around. I did think Jason Clarke was pretty good in the second half. Action was well done. Emelia Clarke had her moments, but she looks like 12, it's hard to get past. The Terminator was pretty awesome. Something that is really bugging me and maybe it's been talked about in here I dunno:

There's no point in ever trying to figure out the timeline stuff in Terminator movies. If you do, it usually ends up like

Things don't seem to get erased in the terminator series once a timeline is changed. Even the idea of going back in time to change the future doesn't make sense, because if you did the future you came from wouldn't exist.

Still waiting for the day that John Conner goes into the future and meets himself, and it turns out that he's a cross dressing cigar chomping who calls himself Jane Conner.
I mean honestly with his childhood that kid should be entirely screwed up and a possible serial killer.

Just finally got around to watching this movie, and this was one thing that stuck out to me as well. He's a good enough actor, his role in Zero Dark Thirty was a bright spot in what I found to otherwise be a pretty dreary movie. But just did not seem suited to this role at all. I thought the rest of the casting was alright, Emilia Clarke was meh, but Jai Courtney was great I thought (Big Spartacus fan here)

Was good in Everest as well, which seems to be a massively underrated movie from last year.
