Which would mean Kylington has played his first pro season this season. 2016/2017 would be his 2nd if he plays 11 or more pro games.

If there is an expansion draft in 2018 Kylington would be considered a 3rd year pro player.
 |
So would this also mean Auston Matthews would be considered a 3rd year pro if he plays more than 11 games next season since he played in an European professional league?

no. The key wording is "while under SPC". SPC = NHL Standard Player Contract.

I've heard coach Hatcher reined him in a bit or he might've put up even crazier numbers. |
It was either Button or Cox who where relaying concerns about how his offence will translate from scouts. I can't find it though for the life of me.

Offensive numbers in JR don't always translate to the NHL as you know.

He is much better defensively than he is offensively without a doubt in my mind, but he does have the tools to be good at both. I think he will have stats comparable to Vlasic FWIW.

Hmm how often do players actually play in euro pro leagues while under NHL contract?

It is pretty rare, but does happen.

For example the Blue Jackets have loaned former 31st overall pick of the 2012 draft Oscar Dansk to Europe this season and have announced they will loan him again next season.

He signed a 3 year ELC back in May 2014.

Joni Ortio did in 2011-12 and 2012-13. Kotalik did after the Flames traded him to Buffalo.

Chychrun had 4 points last night in a must-win game 6 with his team missing their top forward (Konecny).

Keanu Yamamoto is at almost 2 points per game in the WHL playoffs. He's not draft eligible until 2017.
Matthew Tkachuk has 8 goals in 6 playoff games. He might be giving himself a late boost in the rankings. It's looking like him and Chychrun will be gone by the time we pick 6th. Assuming we stay in our spot that is.

I'm assuming Tkachuk, Chychrun, and Dubois go 4-6. I'd be happy with any of those guys.

I think it'll go

1. Matthews
2. Laine
3. Puljujarvi
4. Tkachuk
5. Chychrun
6. Dubois
7. Nylander
8. Juolevi
9. McLeod
10. Sergachev

I could take moving down 1/2/3, because it would mean that the Oilers, Canucks and Leafs wouldn't have won the lottery for Matthews, which would be fine. But if worst comes to the worst and they do win, we'll stay 6th and get a good player. Suits me.

For some reason I'm not the biggest fan of Tkachuk but I think getting one of Dubois or Chychrun would be a HUGE success for the Flames.

Oh man.... I will be in Mexico for the draft lottery. If we win nothing would be better than hanging out in Mexico, knowing we have the best young team in the NHL.

Really I am happy as long as we draft in the top 6. I see a clear top 3, and then 3 pretty equal guys after that with another dip in the quality of player at 7.
 1.Matthews
 2.Laine
 3. Puljujarvi

 4a. Tkachuk
 4b. Chrychun
 4c. Dubois

Any of those guys and I think they really help the team moving forward.

It says here he's 19, so he's been eligible for at least one draft.

Someone want to talk me off the ledge re: the disappointing outlook of drafting outside the top 3?
I'm still worried about Tkachuk leveraging his size in junior and thus not being able to translate his game to the same level in the NHL and drafting a defensemen in Chrychun seems like a poor move BPA or not. We really are desperate for impact players in our top 6. I'd rather trade the pick than draft a D man.

 Don't know anything about Dubois.
