It pains me to say it, but I am pulling for a Burrows hat-trick on Wedneday - I would love the Canucks to bury those tools with all the alumi in the toilet bowl. And on his third goal, to do the Fleury knee slide all the way down the ice while Oiler jerseys rain from the stands

I don't and never will. I started to go there and then attended the first BOA at the dome this year. I watched a guy rip off his shirt and run up and down the isle when McDavid scored, the whole way screaming "the cup is coming back b***hes!!!"
The whole fan base can rot forever. They'll be back next year like none of this ever happened.

Its not even acceptance, its effort. It takes a lot of work to lose with the kind of sustained consistency the Oilers have. You've got to put some effort into sucking that hard.

Also, how in the world do the Oilers endure a 5-0 ass kicking on their last game at Rexall and not a single jersey was tossed onto the ice?
The Gestapo must have been out in full force.

Ever notice they lose all the right games and win all the right ones, but they never win the games that would pull them back out of last place...

Without cherry-picking, Ortio's NHL stats the past two full seasons
Age 23 / 24
26 GP
.9081 SV%
.9106 Adjusted SV%
2.60 GAA (While GAA is "mostly" a team stat, things like rebound absorption do contribute past SV%)
These are average stats. Ortio hasn't been given sheltered opponents like some backups either, pretty much all of his starts have come with him getting runs of starts against pretty decent teams. I would argue that Hiller getting the run of sheltered starts the past two months has impacted Ortio's statistics negatively as he's missed out on chances to face the likes of Buffalo, Toronto, March-Montreal, etc.
If there is only one game I would like to cherry-pick out of Ortio's sample only because of the context, it would be the April 2015 game he played returning immediately from injury, playing behind an AHL defense in what was essentially an exhibition match against the Jets. If I'm allowed to take out that one game (which wasn't even necessarily his worst or only poor game of the past two seasons - just the game he probably should not have played at all) his entire save percentage over a 25 game healthy sample would be 0.9128 and his AdjSV% better. That sample would still include many games where he's been lit up regardless of whether I blamed him or the team (@Anaheim, Montreal, Ottawa, Arizona, St. Louis, @LA).

Well stated. I would suggest that you were remiss in not adding a word that at one time was thought to correlate with "how many".
It turns out it means something quite different.

We have a solid backup with possible starting potential in Ortio. I hope the Flames get a stud #1 somehow this summer. I'm confident they will get a solid #1 somewhere. There are more options out there now then there have been in a while imo. I am confident they will avoid duds like Howard and Pavelec. Treliving will get us someone legit.

Both Kypreos and Hrudy suggested Bishop! I would be "over the top" if the Flames were to be able to get him. Friedman suggested Elliot. Another good choice!

Is Elliot UFA? I would prefer him as a stopgap over Bishop as you wouldn't have to spend assets to acquire him.

Bishop is a the best of the bunch. Why stop gap? We need more than a stop gap. At best Gillies is a few years away If he even makes it. Why not actually get a legit great starter? I don't see the point in another team's failed starter

I have to give some Oiler fans credit in the HFOil thread because they didn't lean on the tired Refs cost us the game. There were a few but the thread felt more like a white flag waving surrender thread.
I also give credit because some Oiler fans are finally seeing Hall as the rest of the NHL sees him. He's lazy without the puck, isn't the smartest guy with the puck, and he won't do anything to win a game.
But back to the refs thing, there were some people whining because the Oilers got called for 6 pp and the Oilers got called for 2. But I really watched the Oilers last night and here's the thing.
The Oilers are incredibly lazy, they stop their own feet from moving so the hooks and the holds and the other penalties look like penalties, they are blatant and obvious. The Flames may have hooked and held like the Oilers but they kept their feet moving so it didn't look like penalties.
On the Goalie interference call, I'm kind of fuming about that because its the way the rule is right now. But come on the Flame wasn't in the blue paint and Talbot moved into him. Personally if I'm a goalie coach, I'm telling my goalie if the pressure gets to be too much to skate into a player because at that point no goal is going to count against. Its the goalies version of diving now.
I think that either they double the size of the blue paint, or put a 3 in the key rule in the goal area, at that point I quit watching hockey.

I have to admit I laways lover Oilers management's confidence that a new arena is going to solve all of their problems.
That building's defensive game must be on point!

Both Bishop and Elliott are signed for one more season. Bishop is signed for $5.95 million, Elliott for $2.5 million.
If the Blues are looking to move Elliott, the Flames should definitely be talking to them.

Even if Treliving aquires a solid #1 in the offseason I hope Hartley still gives Ortio a fair share of starts. The more he plays the better he plays. I think he's being underrated around here and he has lots of potential.
24 is so young for a goalie, we don't even know what we have yet.

I've banged this drum a fair bit. Again, Ortio reminds me a lot of Kipper, you cant yo-yo him, you've got to give him a run of games to play himself into a groove.
So Ramo goes down and Hiller drops the ball and what happens? They give Ortio a run of games and he looks like the prospect most of us thought he should.

I like what Ortio has to say in his interview last night, said he needed to go back to the AHL to re-find his game and gain some confidence, worked hard and now he's playing much better. I still don't know if he's a potential number 1 goalie in this league, but he certainly appears to be a more than capable backup, in my opinion.

Elliott leads the NHL in SV% at .931 with a $2.5M cap hit.
You would have to be certified insane to trade him.

I thought they gave McLellan too much credit; He is just giving lip service and deflecting away from the organization and fact that they are tanking. It's not hard to cover your face with your hands to covey some emotion. I didn't believe a word he said just like Halls comments on not getting out worked. If there is one thing the oilers are good at it out sucking any team any day in a race for the bottom. How can you have that many talented players and not score one goal or not make any quality plays?? Even some oiler fan on hf commented saying they skated wide and shot at the chest.
