Does it even matter now that Monahan has more points than Hall in less games this season. You could tell me after the game that Hall was a scratch tonight and I would've believed you.

I'm really scared flames will give this guy some ridiculous contract such as 6mil. He is good but not great . Biggest cherry picker in the league waiting in scoring areas near the net for the pass and taking adavantage of playing with gaudreau.

Yea, leading scorer from his draft class, 158 points in three seasons as a 21 year old, plays #1 Centre minutes against the best players in the league, on the verge of back to back 30 goal seasons...
6 Million a year is less than what Ryan Kessler got (6.875 AAV as a 30 year old 2nd line Centre).
Honestly there have been some painfully dense posts here over the last few months, but this one is a doozy. Congrats.

Honestly that is just your opinion, nothing else. I am here for quite a time and remember this board celebrating Jokinen true first line center and other stupid things. I am perfectly ok you disagree and i'm used to not having mainstream opinion here.
Monahan is cherry picker and his points are inflating his true contribution. He plays with guadreau one of the best playmakers in this league, he just stands in front of the net and waits for the pass to shoot. This is pure definition of role player and you don't pay role player top money. He is playing on powerplays and inflating his stats again while our PP unit is bottom third of the league and monahan is a big reason for that, as a center he is unable to carry the puck to the offensive zone which is the major ability top paid center should have. Each time he's approaching with the puck opposing player he avoids going 1on1 and passes the puck instead i.e. he is very easy preventable from creating offensive pressure. To me this guy is just good yet not great goal scorer if he has topend playmaker with him on the ice while unable to create any chances by himself on game to game basis and average in other skills.

Right, because comparing a 21 year old Monahan who's developed into a #1 centre in just three seasons is exactly the same thing as the Flames acquiring a 30+ year old washed up Jokenin. Excellent observation.
Monahan doesn't cherry pick at all. In fact, I'm convinced you don't even know what that means. What he dose do is find a way to get open in the slot up there with the very best in the league. His shot and release are elite, and it's why he's on the verge of back to back 30 goal seasons as a 21 year old.
Emphasis on that last part, because he's already at top line Centre and is still a kid with much room to improve and grow.
There are currently only 11 Centres in the entire NHL with more goals, and only 10 with more points. Stop and think about that for a moment.
Your opinion isn't mainstream because it's out to lunch.

If you want to be personal no problem. Your problem is that you just look at points and that's it and you're totally unable to have more complex insight based on actually watching this guy what he is doing on the ice and identify which skills are really important in order to make the team more competitive and compare it with skills this guy really has. In your very simple world Dougie Hamilton is probably worth his absurd contract as well.

Insights like how he "cherry picks"?
Yes, that's the damning part of your argument I'm trying to avoid. It's obvious you have keen insights here that are just too adept for us mainstream fans.
So according to you, a top 12 Centre in the NHL in points / goals needs to be elite defensively (in this case at 21 years old) in order to be worth 6 Million dollars per year?
That's just brilliant.
Here's another one for you. This post was a response to another one of your tirades about Monahan in a separate thread (seems you like to do this often):

After you get your list together now name how many were better than Monahan after their 2nd NHL season.
|
And (shocker)... you failed to reply.
So enlighten us. How many #1 centres are there if Monahan is an over-rated cherry picking #2 Centre feeding off Gaudreau who isn't worth 6 Million per.
This should be good.
