Schneider was impressive.

Jankowski looked really solid - good speed, and smart positional play

Hathaway, Hamilton, Kylington and Wotherspoon all looked good.

Schneider is definitely under the radar with Gillies and McDonald in the pipeline. He's impressed me when I've seen him.

Great to hear Janko looked great in his debut. Hopefully he keeps it up. Would be awesome to have him turn into something great.

As impressed as I was by jankowski I was equally as impressed by Schneider. 18 years old and he looked so calm and cool.

Unfortunately I missed it. How was Janko's skating? Was he quick at all? Did he keep up with everyone?

Jankowski was seriously the best player on the ice? Colour me shocked as that would be extremely impressive for a 21 year old in hus 1st pro game.

I thought Turner Elson was the best player on the ice for his all around play but Jankowski was the best offensive player.

Ya I really like Elson, every time I watch him he impresses me. I know he probably isn't NHL material but I wouldn't mind him sticking around to wear a C in Stockton one day.

small sample size, but those are fantastic numbers for Nick Schneider in his first two games. Very impressive for an 18-year-old.

You would think he was a 23-24 year old AHL veteran based off his play. Surprisingly composed in net. That would be awesome if the Flames stumbled upon a high quality goalie prospect without using a pick.

Yeah, the way Schneider has played with the Heat, hopefully he can build on that going back to junior in the fall. Maybe with the increased confidence he can get off to a good start and get himself into the WJC conversation.

On that note, who are the early candidates?

Callum Booth
Adin Hill
Carter Hart
Zach Sawchenko
Dylan Wells

Maybe forgetting some. IIRC Blackwood and Montembault are too old for this year.

If Skinner has another really good year in Lethbridge you'd have to think they'll consider him as a backup to get him the experience

I left Skinner off because when was the last time Hockey Canada brought a draft eligible goalie to the tournament? I can't recall. They don't seem to like the idea.

per sportsclubstats these are the probabilities they make the playoffs depending on how many remaining games they win.

10+ wins guaranteed playoffs
9 wins ~99.9% chance of playoffs
8 wins ~97% chance of playoffs
7 wins ~58% chance of playoffs
6 wins ~22% chance of playoffs
5 wins ~3.5% chance of playoffs
4 wins ~0.2% chance of playoffs
3 or less essentially 0%
late to the party on this one but shouldn't we be stacking the Heat right now with the hopes that they get into the playoffs and make some noise, instead of having call ups that deplete their chances?

And BTW, how has Klimchuk looked lately - stats show a tough season, hope the kid turns it around.

Maybe that is part of the problem. He's also a late '98 birthday, so he is only eligible for 2 more tournaments and if they think he can be the starter the year after, giving him a chance to make it by at least inviting him to camp would be smart.

Also while he would be undrafted he would only be 6 months younger than Fucale when he first made the team.
