Love listening to Elliotte Friedman. I started listening to audiobooks on my way to work a few months ago. I'd always make sure to keep it on 960 on Mondays and Fridays to hear Elliotte. Recently though, it's been 5 days a week of audiobooks.

Something about all that pausing in between his sentences really frustrates me, haha.
I also used to love Rome but never really listen anymore. It's all about the inside jokes. If you're keeping up with it, those bits become funny. But just tuning into a random episode once ever couple of months, yeah, it'll just be weird and random.

I could see how many Canadians have an issue with the lack of hockey talk, but what I can't stand is the clones. I feel like he leans on them way heavier than he used to when I was a regular listener. I just find them cringe-worthy embarrassing. They completely jack his style (yes I know that's why they're called "Clones". It doesn't make it any better), it's just weird.

And it's one thing if they're just chirping each other off the cuff, but it's so obvious they're reading off a sheet they were probably up until 3am crafting, including written in spots for guffaws and stuff. I can't handle it, I'm simultaneously annoyed by and embarrassed for all of them. I don't give a crap about your attention-starved listeners Rome, just do your thing and leave them out of it. That show is WAY too fan-heavy lately I find.

He's got new twin babies and took a month off for "paternity leave" (which Boomer and Warrener have predictably been chirping him about), in Australia with the in-laws. He's supposed to be back on the show on Monday I believe, as his temp replacement Josh Humphries mentioned on Friday it was his last show.

And I love the morning show. Yeah it hasn't been as good lately with Pinder gone, I'm happy he's back on Monday. They all just play off each other so well, they've been missing that Pinder energy that Boomer detests. I love Warrener on there, but completely disagree with the idea of just making Warrener host it, with another ex-player. Dude's good at what he does - being the wild card with funny stories. If he actually had to host and carry the show it'd be awful, he's too laid back and doesn't give a crap. I'm sure he'd agree it'd be awful too.

And OP, I've been wondering about this too, I really miss the EF segments - I'm sure the morning guys do too. At first I was almost wondering if Boomer chirped Elliott's stripy socks one too many times or something, but EF hating the fallout from his rumours doesn't surprise me. He almost pulled out last year about the same thing. Sad if true (has this been confirmed?), but unsurprising.

I'd be totally fine if he was on vacation or just wanted to spend more time with his family or pretty much any other reason, except because he's angry that some internet people take his words out of context.

I've noticed he's become a bit sour and jaded recently, so maybe it is for the best. But I think it'd be a pretty big cop out if he drops out because of some random internet idiots. His job is rumours, I refuse to believe his sources would stop giving him info when that's what he's always done. His 30 thoughts, tv spots and radio interviews are all pretty similar.

I like Friedman's perspectives and respect him as an insider, but something about his demeanor just bugs me. I enjoy him in print more than radio or TV.

To each their own, I guess. For me it's just the opposite: he's good very good on the radio and on TV for me, and I appreciate his spots. But not so much in print because I think he's a rather poor writer. He's one of those guys who writes the exact same way that he speaks.

Go here. Push play. Skip to 1:33:00. Listen. He is the best not just as a hockey reporter but a human being.

Do a lot of you listen to the Fan 960 at all? I would have thought most people stay away from AM these days.

I listen to the fan every day on my way to and from work. It's getting pretty repetitive though. It's much more interesting when the team is doing well, that's for sure. If I have to listen to Pinder cry about winning when were supposed to lose one more time, I may have a psychotic episode.

I listen to it on the Rogers app on my way in to work. I like that they don't take themselves too seriously for the most part and given how wound up I get at every Flames loss its sometimes very therapeutic.

In other "what's going on with this guy" news.
What is the deal with Loubo? Dude has missed several games, which is unusual, but do we know what's wrong with him? I'm a big fan and just hoping he is ok.

I'd like to say that the Rogers app is absolutely awful to deal with. Not a surprise given that everything Rogers is awful to deal with.

I will second this, yes. Tune In Radio was equally problematic for me though.

What bugs me more than anything is the data. Why am I paying data for something that has existed for over 100 years? Why can't my phone pick up an AM radio station without using it's data?

They mentioned him the other day but were very cryptic about what's going on, which didn't give me a good feeling.

Weird, I'd assumed they were just being nice and giving Steinberg a chance to help call some games since it is the end of a meaningless season.

Curious why anyone would stay away from AM? Does it cause cancer or something? Seriously though, what other options are there? I like talk radio on my way to work and nothing I can get on my phone is as good as what I can get for free on 960. I like the local guys and have no desire to listen to some generic non-flames related broadcast. Even if it was some sort of Flames podcast it probably wouldn't be updated daily. And even if it was daily I still wouldn't want to switch. I like Boomer/Pinder/Rhett.

That means Steinberg is the Backstrom of announcers

He must be pretty under the weather to miss over a week of segments
