An anchor is something that holds you back, Bollig is the definition of an anchor on this team.
A 14th forward can't be holding anyone back. Unless it's from the press box. And we want Bollig to be holding our prospects back from eating popcorn in the press box. So he's a great fit actually, the opposite of an anchor.

That's not Bollig's contract, that's the coach who plays him. If Bollig was in the A would his contract hurt the Flames? No it wouldn't at all because it's not that big of a deal. I think people are expecting Bollig to be more than he is and that's not his contracts fault, thats on him. He just doesn't fit on this team and he can be burried in the minors without it hurting the team. Raymond on the other hand hurts the team more because his contract is a lot more and he helps the Flames even less. By putting Raymond's 3.15 mil contract in the minors, the Flames lose around 2.2 mil in cap space while putting Bollig in the minors would cost the team about 200k in cap space.

Bollig isn't good but he's far from a boat anchor contract.

I think that right now, given the state of the team a player like Bollig prevents a young player from getting time in the line up, so long as the team remains hesitant to use up all of its recalls.

Bollig has dressed in 49 games this season. That is not a "14th" forward. The guy does hurt the team because in those 49 games, he hasn't done anything but collect horrible penalties. Bollig doesn't help our team win, he helps us lose.

Think whatever you want. He's dressed all the games post deadline because he has to. He's clearly one of our 13/14th forwards. His contract isn't large. He grinds and bangs on the 4th line, that's what most 4th liners do. He snarls at the opposition when they get out of line. He doesn't whine he's sat out. We don't have to worry about his lack of development while he's sitting out. Have you seen the 4th lines of various teams across the league? Some of you have some pretty crazy expectations out of 13th/14th forwards. The 4th line should almost never be the reason we win or lose and it isn't. Bollig isn't the problem. Bollig's contract isn't a problem. Anchor? Hyperbole at best.

BTW, it looks like my Gaudreau videos will be split into two 25 minute videos most likely... and that's with me trying to be more selective in what I include. Anything less and I think I'm doing a disservice to his fantastic season frankly.

Last year they were 20 and 26 minutes long. I have Part I essentially finished already, and it is 25 minutes long and runs from pre-season to Game 44.

I'm somewhere in the middle on this one. You remove Bollig and out almost anyone else on the team (Jooris, Hathaway, Grant, Shinkaruk, etc) there and the flames are a better team. Much better? No, not likely. His contact isn't making any difference though

I mean, it would only be classy right?

Since we apparently owe him for his great play last year.

I couldn't care less about Bollig's contract, but Bollig the player has been pretty useless all season. When he was chatting to Johnny on the bench the other night and showing the tip of his stick to show what Keith did to Johnny's ribs I thought, 'ok he gets it, an unacceptable cheap shot on the star player on the team, he'll do something about it.'

Nope, nothing. So I guess I'd rather just see a younger player with better speed, more energy, more anything. Bollig isn't the scapegoat, he's isn't the only problem with the team this season, but he sure isn't the answer to anything this team needs.

Rendering it again in full now. I'll post it once the season is finished though.

Thinking Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Gio, Brodie, etc. as the order.

I'll still do Hudler and Russell but will save them for near the end and probably release both together since ex-Flames usually get a negative response to some degree.

I wish Bollig were the biggest anchor on this team. Unfortunately he's way back in the line right now.

Yep Dougie and Frolik are obvious inclusions from my usual list.

Full list: Gaudreau Parts 1 and 2, Monahan, Bennett, Gio, Brodie, Backlund, Dougie, Frolik, Overtime Wins, Comeback Wins? (if there were enough to warrant another one this year), Colborne, Ferland, Bouma, Jooris, Rookies, Hudler/Russell.

Good chance there will be some World Championship videos too...
