A big "No" to Ramo next year. Better options available

In my opinion he 100% should be brought back as a backup and a new starter should be found.

That pairing is too risky, especially with Ramo's injury and the uncertainty of Ortio. In my mind Ortio will be the backup next season and Reimer/Andersen/Elliot, should be the 1A.

Have to take the bad with the good, and Ortio as a whole this season has been below average.
So I say no, Ramo/Ortio is not enough, and Treliving would be foolish to feel otherwise after how this season started. I can't see him risking next season on these two.

I think Ortio could very well be for real. He's a good goalie, and he's only 24.
He should definitely be re-signed and brought back to compete for a spot next season. Ramo on a PTO as well, competing for a spot.
Should have another goalie there though, to be the starter.

It's just weird how I don't seem too worried when the puck's in our zone when he's in net. He just seems like he's always in control of the situation. He doesn't flail around like Ramo or drop to his knees and hope for the best like Hiller.
It could just be that our goaltending has been so bad that anyone with any kind of technical ability really stands out.

I don't think we need to waste cap space on a goalie coming off a torn ACL who is league average at his absolute best.
Treliving will find a starter this summer and Ortio can back up for 20-30 games.

PTO, but yeah, I wouldn't lose any sleep if they didn't even bring Ramo in on a PTO either.

The difference between having good goaltending and bad goaltending is consistency.
I'm fine with him being pegged as the back-up next year but the #1 position still needs to be addressed.

If he's the starter, the Flames are going to be a lottery team again. While there are few options out there at the minute, there are a couple of options that are better to be a short term starter.

He is looking much better, but lots of promising goalies look great for a stretch, and then fall apart. I do think he is most definitely deserving of another contract and given a good long look, but more as a backup for now. This team still needs a starter, and I would rather them sign one and then have Ortio wrestle it away because he is consistently good, then try and find another solution during the season.

I think Ortio is "legit" in that he's proven himself capable at an NHL level and shouldn't need to return to the AHL unless he's regressed once again next season. There are still games where he's been struggling...and there are even cases of it after Ramo went down this year. But I am not concerned or worried as I have been with Hiller in the late stages of this season (or the rest of the post-Kiprusoff era goaltenders for the most part...Ramo and Hiller in stretches have looked good but rarely at a consistent level).
He's certainly still raw and needs more starts. Watching Backstrom in net gives you a good sense of the level of panic in Ortio's game. Backstrom is calm and composed at almost every point while you can almost see Ortio's worry if he's out of position or doesn't know the puck's location. But he's also capable of the saves you need out of a goaltender and accomplishes it with relative frequency. His skill set is not enough for me that I'd trust him to reliably give a chance to win against the Anaheim or Washington tier teams...not yet anyways. So a back up is a good position for him to get experience and to see how much better he'll become. If he follow the Kiprusoff projection (an unlikely one, I know), he'll be fighting for that starter spot sooner rather than later...a good problem to have.
I would love to see this team get another capable goaltender, especially a starter. I'd want to see where Ramo is post-recovery before handing him the keys to the team (or even a contract) if you want to go Ramo/Ortio. He's been good post-Christmas this season...but that's a major injury. So I'd give him a shot on the team (PTO). That would leave room for the starter seat still and I'd still encourage the Flames to seek out a viable starter goaltender who can take the extremely tough minutes.

I'm confident in him but not as the only solution. Reimer/Ortio would please me
