I am assuming Larionov went public because he feels the Oilers got a fair offer and did not make the deal.

Forgot one:
Kyle Turris
2011-Dec-17 Traded from Phoenix Coyotes to Ottawa Senators for David Rundblad and round 2 pick in the 2012 draft (Anthony Stolarz)
Pretty good comparable as well.

Turris was a C though - different value there.

Turris also wasn't proven to be a bust. His upside was real.
Yakupov isn't getting much better.

I think that's the key - if a team believes the player is what he is - or if the potential is still there.
With Stefan, by the time he got dealt, you knew he wasn't going to change.
With Turris there was potential, much like Drouin.
Yakupov fits in between I think.
Filatov was just a punk.

5 coaches? Yeah, that's on the organization for lack of good teaching. As well, you can add rushing him into the big leagues without giving him sufficiently sheltered minutes to mature as another blight.
Inconsistent centres/usage? That's on Yakupov. If your boss puts you on a different team you don't get ahead by crying in the press that you don't have an all-star on your team to help make you better. If you want to get ahead you put the work on your shoulders and you carry your team to the end of the project. And what good are you to a team/company if you can only work on one type of thing? It's about adaptability, and Yakupov has basically admitted he can't adapt.

The Oilers would likely give up the Jankowski compensation pick to Boston for the Chiarelli compensation.
Essentially trading a 1st overall pick for a general manager.
|
Then, Jankowski signs with the Flames on August 16.

The Paajarvi trade could be another comparable. While not as highly touted as Yakupov, similar career trajectories.
Paajarvi + 2nd + 4th for Perron + 3rd

Even with his struggles no way Yakupov only gets a 4th. If Edm was willing to take that I think half the league would be interested including us.

It's not necessarily about what they're willing to accept. That might just be all that's being offered.

I don't agree with this.
I think skill players have roles to play the same as traditional role players. I always hate it when we bring up a guy from the minors who is a skill player and then dump him on the 4th line and expect him to suddenly turn Matt Stajan into an all star. (to use an example)
I think skill players need to play with skill players. I don't think Yak has had that opportunity. I also think he's been dumped out on the 3rd and 4th lines with zero accountability and zero direction. The player has responsibility in this, but I think he's been set up to fail by an organization that hasn't a clue how to develop players.
Yak is one of the few Oilers i'd actually take on our team because I think there is stuff there to work with.

I would gladly give up a 3rd round pick for Yak. Flames have a huge void on RW. Him playing with Bennett could really get him going again. He played pretty well when he was with McDavid.

McKenize on That's Hockey said the Oilers had 1 maybe two offers for Yakupov at the deadline. They were soft offers too meaning that it was a 'if you are considering moving him we might give up something kind of deal.'

Oiler fans are booing Yakupov in Rexall when he touches the puck.

i'm just shaking my head.
Edmonton can't kick a player on the way out fast enough.

They're the worst for it.
And all it does is reinforce to other players around that league that it is the worst place to play (not that additional reinforcement is required)

My low-key destination: Chicago. Young, cheap talent that they could work on, and it just seems like he'd excel there. Could be Chicago's eventual replacement for Hossa. Him alongside Panarin would actually be dangerous.

They won't trade him for a 2nd or 3rd straight up. They would rather him continue to wallow in mediocrity than admit one of their #1's has flopped. The only way he gets traded is if he is part of a package or a one for one with a comparable struggling prospect so they can try to save some face and take some steam off the trading one of their #1 overall picks storyline.

It's hilarious that the threshold for a saving face prospect is the Griffin Reinhart standard.
