It turns out that downtown parking isn't as expensive when there's no cars to put in the spots. Nothing weird but the fact that there's a lot of commercial parking spots on Groupon is a symptom of the downturn.

My building has a small parkade of about 20 spots. A couple years ago it was totally full . Now there are only ever 5-10 cars. Bike parking is still pretty crowded though!

It's kind of risky to buy a 3 month downtown parking in this economy.
