Default Waivers and Buyouts

If I am not playoff bound, can I still waive players and buy them out while playoffs are happening?

If yes, does a buyout happen towards this year's cap or next year's?

You need to do t before you play your last game or it counts to next years cap

And you need the cap space to cover any buyout.

So if we release a bunch of guys, is the watchdog then turned off for non-playoff teams?

That's why you need the cap space. I'll write a more clear post later when not on phone. Basically you can't get out of a bad contract after your games are done or if you don't have cap space to pay for the buyout

You still need to be in roster limits until your last game

OK just to summarize.
- If a player is on your roster for the last game you play, any buyout is against next years cap
- If you want to buy a player out before end of the season, you need to have the cap space to cover that amount and still remain within roster limits

Basically the idea is not to have a loop hole where people can use a player for a full season, buy them out at the end, and just be over the cap for a few days.

Questions?

Similar vein, salary cap, waivers, roster limits still in effect for the playoffs?

Just checking and doing my paperwork

Buying out Adam Pardy 3yr's @ 0.60M will equal 30% of 0.6*3
Total Buyout equals 0.54M

Would rather buy him out after the deadline assuming he doesn't move and not get caught getting it in on time. I just want to make sure I have the cap and I'm not missing something. In reality I should be saving 0.06M

Yup that seems right Doug.
People should check the buyout calcs when they appear on their page. I try to make sure they are right but good to have GMs also check.

Adam Pardy's buyout
Releasing Pardy, Adam (LW) NHL (0.60 for 3 yrs) $ 0.72

I had it equaling 0.54M above.

So here's the problems and why the totals are not adding up

My understand was i used this total to Pardy's 3 yer 0.6M contract
1 million/year and under--30%

The sim adds all three years together totaling 1.8M and bumps to the
2 million/year and under--40%

So thats why the SIM calculates different. We need to figure out what % we use, it's it based on the yearly salary or the grand total over the course of the full contract. I'm cool either way because I am able to cover the cap but we might need to make a note about this so someone doesn't get caught

I agree Doug. A uniform % might simply be what we need.
In the meantime I've added 180K back to your team so the correct buyout amount is represented.
