Hiller for the last 8 just for the lulz
BT then has a press conference and says "we really feel Jonas gives us the best chance to lose. Just to be sure, we're loading him up on a double dose of ambein prior to each game"

Scorpion has firmly taken over the throne of worst poster on the board from Bertuzzied.

Not until we have a better goalie and one of Matthews/Laine/Puljujarvi in the line up.

Well for ARI on Monday I'd prefer one of the backups. But Ortio can play the rest.

No. People argue that with average goaltending this team would be fighting for playoffs. Weird that's the first post in this thread. Were you just waiting for a game like this to post that?
Also I don't believe I've ever seen a PGT with only one page in tapatalk!

To add content to this thread, I think we must run with Hiller the rest of the way. We have an excellent chance to assure ourselves a top 5 pick. With Hiller, there is even a shot at Edmonton.

Yeah, we still have Ricardodw. Bertuzzied was never the worst, and Scorpion never will be.

That is not much different but I get the distinction. Do you believe that though? Would average goaltending have them in the 8 to 10 slot in a 14 team conference? Maybe but I think they would still be on the outside looking in.
In any case, goaltending needs to be fixed. Hard to think of a game the team won this year solely because of goaltending.

The defensive coverage is just terrible. A really good goalie maybe. I think Ramo and Ortio gave us at least average goaltending, do you think we'd be in the playoffs if Ramo didn't get hurt?

Probably be in a spot right now where some of these games still matter, but don't think we'd make it

Ramo was above average for a stretch. If the Flames had above average goaltending for the entire year, I think they would be right there and maybe even in a spot. A goalie that steals some games.
But as for the specific question about Ramo getting hurt. I believe we were done either way.

had a look at Ramo's rolling 5 game save percentage through the season.
He was above the NHL average of .913 for 4 data points in November and 13 straight data points from mid December to mid January
He was solid
Had a tough finish though.

Thats kinda where Im at right now with the goaltending situation... I think it would be a mistake to through 5+ mill at Riemer and right now even though its not the strongest solution I think another 1 year x 3.5 mill contract for Ramo would work, especially cause he'd be the starter with Hiller out of the picture leaving Ortio for 30 or so starts to see if he can stick in this league. Ramo was fantastic in December and I think he can ay like that with a clearer goaltending situation than what we had at the start of this season.
We could use that extra 1.5/2 mill towards the winger for Johnny/Mony.

Ramo may not be ready to start the season due to his injury. That's just another reason why it's unlikely we see him back IMO

If we see Ramo back it'll be on a PTO IMO.

Outside of the knee injury Ramo's biggest issue is the fact he's a tweener. He's an above average backup or a below average starter.
And he's paid too much for that roll.
You can't really go with him and Ortio as you may write off a season again, but you also can't afford to have him back up a true starter unless he takes a big hair cut in salary.
