I wouldn't snicker. He hasn't played 50% of the games yet. And playoffs haven't even started.

And it's funny because Nike Air Mags actually exist!

IIRC the 50% only counts in the playoffs. Missing games now doesn't natter. Better for us if he misses time now and is his healthiest when the post season begins.

That's sort of what I mean. He's hurt now and the playoffs haven't even started. What if he doesn't play any game then? What if he can't? Or gets hurt again right away if he does? A few posts had a "sucks to be Dallas" feel to them. Like the Flames stole something. This isn't a positive development.

Weird. I was thinking the same of the only guy wearing white pants. Nichushkin looks like a prototypical N. European.

I think a lot of people are high on Jokipakka. The fact we got Pollock & a conditional 2nd is gravy.

It's not positive, but by the same token even if that pick ends up being a 2nd this was still a great trade for Calgary, and we should continue to be thrilled.

I wonder if Russell misses a few games in the first and second round, but the Stars still win round 1 easily and are up 3-0 or 3-1 in round 2, if they bench Russell in order to preserve their draft pick?

The math doesn't add up. They need to win over 50% of their games to make the finals. They will play Russell in every game that they need to win.
Regardless, Dallas has already sacrificed their future to go all-in this year. They won't be holding back.

I'm saying if Russell is day-to-day with injuries (like he currently is -- he was scratched versus Chicago with a lower body injury) -- for example:
Round 1 - Stars win series 4-1, Russell only plays in 2 games due to injury
Round 2 - Stars up 3-1, Russell again only plays in 2 games due to injury
Do you play Russell in Game 5? If Dallas wins, Russell plays in 5 out of 10 games and the Stars lose their first rounder. Or, do you take the chance you can win without dressing him, up 3-1 in the series?
Might be somewhat farfetched, but it could happen...

I dont think the condition was that he had to be dressed, it was about the team achieving a goal.
I think that if Russel is out for the season tomorrow and the Stars still make the conference finals we still a 1st.

No, he has to play 50% of the games in both of the first two rounds for us to get their first.

I did not realize that. Thank you.
This deal is getting worse and worse with each round. Except for the fact that we're already ahead. I really want this 1st.
