That would be the most amazing thing ever. I'd be okay with trading anyone and anything outside of Brodie, Gaudreau, Monahan and Bennett for that. Literally ship anyone else out.

Haha, I love posts like this, and they are abundant.

Hey, I left Giordano, Hamilton, Backlund, Jokkipakka and our entire farm on the table. Plus any draft picks.

Surely there's a package in there that could swing something.

The EA Sports school of player/team valuation. Check out the Trade Speculation Thread. Its rampant.

Maybe if there was a lottery win combined with it, and Dallas makes the conference finals so they get that first for Russell -- then, Calgary wins the #2 pick, then flips Hamilton + Backlund + Dallas' 1st, MIGHT be enough to pry the #3 from whoever gets it, depending who that is.

Still, counting on a lot of luck there!

But when Jokipakka is being listed as a note-worthy trade asset, there really isn't much to get it done with (outside the guys you mentioned, who aren't worth gambling a trade on).

		| Less is more when it comes to the 2016 NHL Draft class, and there’s little movement at the top.
With the season slowly coming to a head, there are no changes at the head of the 2016 class as skilled offensive center Auston Matthews still the consensus top prospect with the two skilled Finns, Patrik Laine and Jesse Puljujarvi following close behind.

At No. 4 there has been some discussion.

There has been plenty of talk among media and scouts in the industry centering around defenseman Olli Juolevi, who is said to not only challenge Jakob Chychrun for the title of 2016 NHL Drafts top available blueliner, but that he has already overtaking him as the top option.
 |
1. Auston Matthews - ZSC Lions
2. Patrik Laine - Tappara
3. Jesse Puljujarvi - Karpat
4. Jakob Chychrun - Sarnia
5. Matthew Tkachuk - London
6. Pierre-Luc Dubois - Cape Breton
7. Alexander Nylander - Mississauga
8. Mikhail Sergachev - Windsor
9. Clayton Keller - NTDP U18
10. Julien Gauthier - Val-d'Or

I didn't know the Oilers were THAT desperate for a defenseman. It would be nice if someone "ahead" of us went off the board. It would essentially move us up a pick.

Has anyone ever gone completely off the board for a first overall pick?

When the Islanders pick Dipietro over Heatley I was pretty shocked.
Edit: just looking at that draft now.... krahn at 9th overall some pretty big busts in that year though.

If we don't land a lottery pick hopefully we can come at or under the 7 spot. I would be extatic with any of Chychrun, Tkachuk, Dubois or Nylander. Each guy has a different set of skills and I am having trouble picking one over the other. It would be tough to pass on Chychrun if he is available but we need a skilled forward more at the moment. I can't wait till lottery day and draft day to see where all the chips fall.

Had a dream we drafted at 6th, and took someone with the last name Dumbo. Dubois went 7th.
Starting to get real nervous! We're close... And I desperately want one of Tkachuk or Dubois.

Dubois will suit up for the Eagles next game...I was worried he was going to miss the playoffs after he was suspended indefinitely for a dirty hit.
Mike Mcleod finished the season at 58% faceoff%. Only Dvorak and Strome were better among notables (there were a couple obscure guys with a better % but much smaller sample size).

I'm hoping for Dubois but depending how you fell about Bennett moving to wing permanently Mcleod would make an Excellent #2

I know the top 3 are NHL ready, and sounds like Tkachuk and Dubois are right there close as well, but what are thoughts on the remaining 3 or so where the Flames might pick? Are the top 8 all good to go on a Flames team?

No.

Conroy already said in his opinion Chychrun will not play in the NHL next year.

There is always a chance they might surprise and some of it might depend on team depth, but outside of the top 3 no one is a lock for making NHL teams.
