Anybody remember this video? First involuntary erection.
I mostly listened to The Hip and Blue Rodeo in the 90s, later on it was Depeche Mode, Eazy E, Nas. The late 90s was complete ####e for music.
Spoiler!
I spent my summers in the US and one summer this song was played once an hour on MTV. I will always remember it. It represents the 90s as much as Clinton and OJ to me.

A lot of good stuff has already been mentioned. It was a good decade for Canadian groups - particularly Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morrissette, Spirit of the West, The Odds, The Waltons, Crash Test Dummies. I particularly enjoyed some of the female singer / songwriters that came about then. Joan Osborne, Jewel, Cranberries, Meredith Brooks, Merril Bainbridge, and The Cardigans.
I know it's pretty top 40, but I just have fond memories of emergence of Canadiana and Lilith Fair in the 90s.
The good old days, when music companies had a monopoly on distribution and could gouge you on CDs. I really liked The Verve Pipe's song "The Freshmen", so I bought the CD. The other songs sucked, and the version of The Freshmen wasn't even the radio edit. It was basically a mopey, emo inspired unplugged version.
Was a big fan of Soul Asylum and Live back in the day.

POTUSA first album is one of my favorite albums from the 90s and I consider it to be an under appreciated classic, despite that it went triple platinum.
It sounds like they started off making a childrens album, but some time during the recording process they went off the rails and all the kids songs ended up twisted and bizarre. I don't if it's supposed to be a concept album or what, but it's a solid listen with a lot of unique, fun songs. I've told a few of my music geek friends to rediscover that album and they've all ended up loving it.
This thread is completely unusable for me. Is it a problem on my end, or is it perhaps because of all the YouTube videos not in spoiler tags? I can't even get the second page to stay open long enough to post without it crashing Chrome.
