He let in a couple of goals that elite goaltenders would have stopped but he also made some good saves on some point blank shots. All in all not a terrible game and pretty well on the same level of Ortio who's let in some somewhat weak goals of late but since Hiller has had a pretty poor season the mob mentality is in full effect regardless how he performs.

I think that's why it's called establishment and not diving. Gaudreau did slash Kadri, it was a penalty but Kadri tried to make it look way worse then it was.

lol
First of all, Gaudreau didn't 'hack' him, he had one hand on his stick and basically waved at him. It made contact with Kadri's leg but wouldn't have dented his sock.
As for being 'jumped on', he chose to turtle - which is one of the most cowardly acts in hockey, especially when he initiated things. And Jooris wasn't throwing punches at him while he was down, he grabbed his jersey and was trying to lift him up so that Kadri could fight like a man. Except, he isn't, so...
As for Hiller, he GAVE Toronto their first goal. That changed the tone of the game. Then both the second and third goals were classic Hiller 'too deep in the crease, no effort to try and track the puck' goals. Both soft.
Toronto with 24 shots and not a lot in the way of dangerous shots. Result: 3 goals, a loss, and the usual .875 SPG

Wishful thinking at this point. I just took a look at the standings and we are in 24th place. 24th. Hard to believe that there are teams out there that suck worse then us, given how bad our team is.

I was at this game and it was a complete disgrace.

Sure, the Flames are 24th but they're only 2 points ahead of the nucks and bj's and have played 2 more games then vancouver and 1 more than cbj. The Flames are only 5 points ahead of last place and have played more games than everyone below them but the oilers. And with the new draft lottery, anyone can win it.
It would be nice for the Flames to get a higher pick than the the leafs because if the leafs get a top 3 pick, that's all that you'll hear about on any sports network.

Marner is a tough case because he's one of those guys who probably doesn't need another season in junior but can't play in the AHL.
|
I agree that those players are ready but everything out of Toronto is about developing all players in the minors and the slow build. Nylander had a huge year in the AHL and is looking good in the big league. Unlikely he ever goes back to the AHL with exception of this years playoffs.

The Chicago Blackhawks are not a one-line team. You just supported my point.

Nazem Kadri:
- Gets laid out cleanly by Gio last game
- Threatens to kill him from the bench
- Gets stood up and dumped on his ass when he tries retribution later in the game
- Next game in the media he says that he's going to finish his checks on Gio
- Instead goes after the smallest guy in the league, who is a superstar, with a clean hit
- Gets slashed by said player on the leg, responds by throwing his stick 20 feet in the air and going down like he got shot
- Refuses to stand up like a man and fight Jooris who is the same size and the same age as him
- Laughs with teammates when standing by the bench after, then whines the entire way to the box
People are reacting to what a weasel he is overall. That's some shameful #### and as a fan I would be embarrassed.

Kadri is becoming Alex Burrows 2.0 plus a level. The guy is a punk and needs to have his face fed.

Didn't watch the game, and just watched the highlights.
I've been trying to avoid piling on Hiller, as there's really not much need to talk about the obvious and I want to show respect.
But oh my lord. The level of awful on that first goal is really something else, and the second one isn't much better.

Help, save, whatever.

Yeah I'm sure Kadri was really afraid of Gaudreau (who got rocked but let someone else stand-up for him) and Jooris. Kadri is a heck of a lot tougher than those two. If it was the other way around you would be so pissed off.

If it was the other way around we'd be embarrassed that we have a little punk like Kadri on our team.

I hated guys like Marchment and Bourque when they were here - I wouldn’t like Nazem if he came to Calgary, either.
Of course, I did love Todd Bertuzzi, but I think he actively was trying to turn over a new leaf.

The leafs do have some good prospects and they did play well, they still have a long way to go but since they're headed in the right direction it's getting blown out of proportion. Just let them have this, they're just doing their best not to be the oilers of the east...

LOL What? Have you not listened to TSN or Sportsnet? They apparently have no problem criticizing the Leafs.

Toronto is stripping it right down but they still have a ways to go. If they add Matthews, Stamkos, and Marner to the roster next year then they might be close. Until then they do not have 2 top line players aged 21 and 22. They do not have the top 3 on the blueline that Clagary has. I still take Bennett over either Nylander or Marner as well.
If Calgary adds Matthews or one of the Fins this summer while getting a much better goalie they will blow past all Canadian teams in my opinion next year
|
How can you not argue the Leafs appear to be closing the gap? Just because you do not like hearing it does not mean it's wrong.
The hockey world kissed the Flames last year and in the summer. It's natural that will stop with the regression. The Marlies meanwhile look dominant with a lot of the Leafs draft picks.

They are one fluke lockout year away from owning the all-time record for consecutive years out of the playoffs.
No way that 2013 Leafs team makes the playoffs with a full 82 game slate. They just didn't have a chance to do their usual two month collapse to end the year.
