I'm sorry but blind faith in fairytales is the root of this problem because the terrorists genuinely believe they're doing gods work and that this is for the greater good. Remove that and make people realize that there is no after life, no reason to risk their lives and then we'll see how many people are willing to risk their one shot at life for whatever bs cause you come up with now.

Convince people there is no God and you will solve this problem.

Just realized, the thread title said 81 injured. I think the reddit thread said 170+.

This was the summary 2 hours ago:

Hour seven since the attacks.
170+ Still injured. The preliminary number for the deathcount has stayed around 34 people. 14 in the airport, 20 in the subway.
Police are supposedly raiding homes that are suspicious. We will report if there are any new developments.
The Berlaymont building is being evacuated (The building where the European Commission is located).
Obama will be making a statement on CNN in the hour from Cuba.
Traffic is restricted in Brussels.
Children are being told to stay at school as they will be safe there for the time being.
The third possible person who left a undetonated suicide belt in the terminal is still at large.

Yes, religion fuels a lot of this garbage. But wiping religion from existence isn't some sort of magic bullet.

No but it's a hell of a good start. Obviously psycho's will exist forever, it's biology, but a large portion (if not the majority) of these attacks would go away if people didn't think they would get a second crack at life after death.

They need to close their borders in the EU. Not sure how much that would help but could it keep some of these guys out of their country? I guess we will see once we learn a bit more about the suspects in this attack.

Came to this thread for updates on the situation in Brussels.

Thought I clicked on the ISIS debate thread by mistake.

EDIT: Forgot to add, this is a terrible tragedy. Thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. My wife and I travelled to Europe two years ago, and we flew through Brussels, so this was pretty scary to hear.

Update

11 Hours since the attack
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the attacks today.
Police have found a nailed up, Islamic State flag and chemicals in one of the homes searched by police in Schaarbeek
Other explosives found in Brussels airport, bomb squad removed the explosives.
Current death count steadily at 34 people.
Hotels in Brussels are providing rooms for free for people displaced and affected by the attacks.
Taxis will also give free rides to people in Brussels.
Brussels airport has cancelled all flights incoming and outgoing tomorrow. But transportation hubs have begun to restart. Trains will be on a limited schedule and enhanced security will be present at these areas.
About nine Americans were wounded during the bombings. Taxis in Brussels have been working for free.
