I'm still gonna get one.

I've got every jersey between horsesnot to the retro alternates we all love. This one, a replica 80's white jersey, the sexy pedestal, and my collection is complete.

I think they said from the start they were only wearing them this year. Some anniversary, or for the last year at Rexall, I cant remember which.

I bet that about 6 teams will get major uniform overhauls for 2017-18, and the Flames will be one of them.

So far, the only teams that went with non-traditional designs in 2007 that haven't made any significant changes to their primary uniforms since are: Calgary, Colorado, Columbus, Florida, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, and Washington. Florida is reportedly changing theirs next season, and Pittsburgh and Washington could both go full-retro. That leaves Calgary, Colorado, Columbus, and Ottawa as the likely targets for Adidas overhauls.
Florida actually changed theirs once already, went from blue to red in 2013. I dont think too many people noticed. I remember seeing them at the draft and being disappointed. The white ones are basically the same, they just got rid of the piping.

The current ones need a serious revamp too. The random striping all over the place and the flags still make my eye twitch.

Yep, there are enough Red/Black jersey as it is (Ottawa, New Jersey, Chicago), I don't know why the Flames had to add to that with another New Jersey clone.

The normal/retro reds are unique in comparison.

The cowboy yoke was a cute idea that would've probably worked if the jersey front wasn't so busy. Either go with the Flaming C or go with the wordmark.

Thicker yellow, just the flaming C on the front (or at least fix the script font...) and this would have been a great 3rd jersey. I love the cowboy yoke (as a 3rd) and the striping was almost good. Besides the font issues with the 2 and 5, I liked the font as well.

Too bad it's not long for this world. All it needs it some fixing.

Dear Ken King/Brian Burke/whoever is in charger of making these decisions, if you are reading this thread - listen to this guy.

Our retro thirds look amazing in HD tv, now.

Not shocked that the Flames are retiring the 3rd already, but I am surprised that the Oilers are killing their orange abomination so soon. I thought it was popular. Probably just going to reissue it with a "1st year at new arena" patch to wring a few extra dollars out of their fans.

So in other words, you wanted to have your opinion heard first and you want to say that you're right and everyone else is wrong and should only like what you like...

To some extent, it is happening since they're rumored to be making the retro jerseys the new thirds. I know that they'd never make the Flames jersey the same as it used to be but I think the Flames logo and jersey design has to be radically changed...the black on the jersey looks terrible. When they introduced it, it was kind of cook but it seems like they're trying to make black one of their primary colors and it just doesn't fit. If they want to have black on the jersey, make it a highlight color or an accent color, when you think about it the black flaming C looks burnt out like the fire is gone. To me it just seems like whoever is designing things is just trying too hard, I just think the Flames should just try to simplify things.

Here's a recent concept jersey link posted on Sports illustrated

I actually like the Flames ones a lot...even the 3rd jersey concept of the sneezing horse looks okay without that awful black.

Oh I disagree, I think the majority of those look completely awful. The only Flames one that is not a complete eyesore is the Home design.

What's the deal with all of those mockups resorting to logos from 10-15 years ago?

Oh, don't worry – you'll see it more!

Usually any details available this early in the year come from Reebok's planning catalog sent to retailers. It indicates the Oilers will have a new third jersey next season. Most likely we'll see this year's orange throwback get an upgrade.

As a specialty sweater, it can only be worn for a handful of games in a season. As a third jersey, it can used up to 15 times. And the design has been wildly popular in Edmonton. I can't imagine the Oilers going in any other direction if a new third is indeed coming next year.
http://www.icethetics.co/blog/nhl-jerseywatch-2016

So what people are seeing is the jersey 'canceled' as a specialty sweater.

I agree some are awful, but I like the Flames ones (though we don't really need the horse head to return).

Very simple, not so much piping, and most important, no black.

Third jersey grew on me. I find it fits better than the normal one. I think it's the sleeves.

But yah, I'm in the party that the retros are ok on occasions, but I'd be disappointed if they made them the primary jerseys. Yes, it's a classic. But so were mullets and porn staches. Doesn't mean they shouldn't stay in the 80s.

Too much yellow is my issue with the Flames' set. Yellow is our accent color. Might as well be the Oilers' orange set.
