Rome is great. Truly one of the funniest guys on radio ever, and honestly, i dont think there is a better interview in sports. Yah hes got his "Schtich" or whatever its called like everyone else (Scotty farrell on the bench??) but rome is thoughtful, gets the biggest most relevant names, and asks good questions. and he is always very prepared.

Sorry for my piss poor grammar ive had a few.

Wow, I just thought Friedman was on holidays or something. He and Duhatschek are the best parts of the show. Don't ever here Duhatschek anymore either. Boomer and Rhett garbage. I'm pretty much done listening on my drive.

And Jim Rome for me, well that results in a flip of the switch too. Can't stand him.

On a side note, where has Pinder been? Seems like he's been away for a few weeks, and I'm not sure what I think of Klein...

He is insightful, I'll give him that. I think the thing I have against the Jim Rome show is that it's way too heavy towards football, baseball, and basketball - all sports I'm not a huge fan of. When there are big sporting events like the Superbowl or NBA championship, I'm happy to listen because I'm usually excited for those big games. But on a day-to-day basis, I will not listen. Something about all that pausing in between his sentences really frustrates me, haha.

Btw, I don't think he's the worst. I think the guy on CBS at night on 960 is twice as bad. I don't remember his name, but he has a really weird voice. I'm sure people know who I'm talking about just by reading that simple description. He flat out sucks.

Edit: the guy I'm referring to is the same one you referred to: Farrell

It would be amazing if Sportsnet would put together a weekly podcast of all of Friedman's radio and TV appearances (though perhaps less relevant now). Sure, there would be a fair bit of repetition as he'd likely address some of the same league-wide topics several times, but I would eat up as much content from EF as possible. Hell, just get an intern to read his 30 thoughts aloud too.

Better yet, I'd love Friedman to do a podcast of sorts; of course the priority for SN is to generate content for the radio, but they could build structure it can be easily used by various affiliates. With the right partner/interviewer to take him through his 30 thoughts and any other hot topics of the week, I think you've got a can't miss 1 hour program to slot into each station's weekly schedule. It would be nice in place of Pinder's 9-10am hour once a week.

It would solve a lot of problems, including helping EF's schedule. It's probably best done live (for a certain timeslot in Toronto), but it doesn't have to be, which could offer a little bit more control and leave 'Malkin' situations on the cutting room floor.

Anyone know what other cities have sportsnet radio and use EF for these kinds of interviews?

That's fair, but do you really need 2 more hours of re-hashing the already thrice re-hashed hockey topics?

I love the Tony Kornheiser radio show out of DC. It has the same kind of 'insider joke' culture as Rome, but is 1000x more sophisticated.

No definitely not. They could really use a new show, that's for sure. But I'd probably listen to JR a bit more if he had a bit of hockey on his show. He's knowledgeable and funny at times, so having a perspective like his would be interesting.

I haven't heard of Tony, maybe I'll give that a shot tomorrow.

Is his radio show on the fan or do you find it online?

I love him and Mike Wilbon on PTI, would love to tune into his show

TK is on 8-10am MST via ESPN980 in Washington DC. Podcast is now normally available within an hour which is how I normally catch it.

As sureloss said, I recall him saying that he didn't have to do the radio hits. He wanted to do them but it was getting to not be worth it when his stuff gets taken out of context. Thing is, this means he shouldn't do any radio or tv anymore and distill it down to 30 thoughts.

Love the morning show as do many others; the ratings speak for themselves.

It's definitely not your standard sports geek talk show. I get a huge kick out of it.

I really enjoy fan960's local content. Can't stand Jim Rome.

Love Mr. Tony, and am a little. I've heard a few emails come from Calgary. Are they from you?

I think the morning show is top notch. Any show that DOES NOT take calls from listeners is great in my books. Fan calls are the WORST! Radio poison.

Can't stand Rome. Stupid and stupid repeated over and over and over.

Elliotte is one of the best at what he does - generally has great insights (not always correct, but always thoughtful) and good commentary. Duha is similar that way.

Some day Sportsnet might figure out that dumbing down and cheaping out on all their broadcasts simply isn't going to work for them. But I doubt it.
