Looks like Kevin is better suited for Flames hockey than Stars hockey. Good find scouting department!

By Flames hockey you mean high scoring by the defensemen and low sv% by goalie and a winning percentage that does not come close to making the playoffs .... I think you have it.

I don't think there are many D-men in the league that would not put up more points playing Flames hockey.

There is a reason that no other team has its defense play as though it was late in the 3rd period and the team was down 2 goals.

Karlsson might get 100 pts playing the Flames system.

The Flames have 3 out of the top 32 D-men in the league by ppg (minimum 20 games) no other team has more than 2 Kevin is knocking at the door trying to make it 4 and Wideman (#63 overall ppg) not that far off breaking into the top 30. last season he was #7.

According to the Norris voting criteria (scoring) the Flames defense as a group ranks as the clear #1 unit in the league. Standings suggest otherwise.

Dallas, for example, who as a team scores a lot more goals than the Flames and will get in some playoff games this year has 1 D-man in the top 32 ppg

Nashville gets more points from defensemen. They must be terrible too

You made me look -- nashville D 179 pt in 432 games .41 ppg is better than the Flames 170 pts in 427 games .40 ppg

BUT if you take away the pp pts... which you might be able to admit is not close to being the same or related to the overall game plan you end up with the Flames holding on to the Defense scoring belt 125 pts to 116.

The other thing you have with nashville, ingrained by Trotz, is the defense first of the forward group as a whole.... no chance for a ppg forward on that team.

You also help prove a point about the Flames being in more trouble than can be fixed with a NHL caliber goal tender.

... among goalies with more than 20 games the nashville's Rinnie has a .910 Sv% good for 39th spot just ahead of Ramo.

or both teams try to play to their strengths which is having a high scoring defence with a lack of scoring forwards.

As for goaltending, this season has been much worse than last season, which says to me, our goalie situation can be improved.

Not many teams have higher scoring forwards than Gaudreau/Monahan/Hudler over the last 2 years. Definitely not Nashville.

I think you need a special goalie to play in system where your defense is thinking offense first.

Or simply populate your bottom 3 with defense first players to take pressure off of the goalie for half of the game, and keep him fresh for the odd spectacular save when the offense first crew is on the ice.

Kevin, Spoon and Nakladalladalkan (tm), will do.
