I wish that 2nd line was our 3rd line.
I wish that 3rd line was our 4th line.
I wish that 4th line was gone altogether.
...and I wish our 2nd line was Lucic - Bennett - Laine.

Also, that D I like. Hope it's our D to start next season, unless they trade for Hamonic. Then we can squeeze him in there instead of Engelland.

I will never cheer for a loss, but I don't mind the Flames losing games in a season like this if they are playing well, and it is as a result of a depleted lineup.
However, given the choice between wins and chemistry/confidence/good habits being built and having slightly better lottery odds, you should want your team to win

If a loss for the Flames tonight means that Iginla gets another chance at the Stanley Cup, I could totally live with that.

We wouldn't have had the playoffs last year but at least some fans would have the moral high ground. Or something.

Seriously, this tanking debate has got to be the most mind numbing crap ever. For me, it's actually the worst part of a season like this.
Actually, Calgary won 5 of their last 9 games in 12/13 to end up 6th, when the desire was to finish top 3 so we could get McKinnon, Drouin or Jones.

It hurt them not at all.

In 13/14, Calgary finished the season 10-7 in their last 17 games, and finished 4th last.

It hurt them not at all, and they ended up with the top-rated forward in the draft (according to CSS)

Imagine if they won 9 of 9? We could've hung an anti-tanking banner in the rafters.

Logically, losses are better.

A) I don't follow sports logically. There's zero logical sense in getting emotionally invested in sports. It's for the emotional appeal of "my" team
B) If I cannot affect any change in the course of the team I follow (I can measure no decisions on the teams future), I'm not going to change my enjoyment of wins

Some people enjoy the losses because they look further down. I can't. Enjoying hockey is way too basic for my. Wanting my team to win is a gut feeling I don't want to change, it's what I enjoy

A quick note to you tanker fans: Wanting the chance to have really good young players on your team is LOSER CULTURE.

Default Flames vs. Avalanche, 7 pm, SNF

I have to admit, while I'm not cheering for losses it is kind of disappointing that it's looking less and less likely that the team is going to come away from this season with one of the Finns. I'm not seeing anyone in that 6-10 range that would fit this team's needs in nearly the same way.

While I will support the team no matter where they end up finishing, I can't see any better way to address the Flames' woeful RW depth without a top 3 pick.

Agree with all but would prefer an upgrade to Ferland on the top line

Had the Flames had one more win they would have finished higher than the islanders and we would have Dal Colle or Virtanen instead of Bennett

Not gonna lie, I'm hoping for a loss tonight. That doesn't make me a bad fan. I understand people still cheering for wins and I understand people who want some losses for the benefit of the team long term. Not sure why it always seems to come down to a pissing match between both sides.

Ifs and buts...

They didn't tank. They played hard until the end. And it didn't hurt them at all.

It's really straight-forward.

So how come all the best teams are built with a foundation of players taken very high in the draft?

Edmonton is obviously the exception and 100% of the reason this debate exists at all.

Yeah it happened in 2014 and was awesome but I wouldn't count on it happening again. Flames have a strong final stretch and we draft 8-10th instead of top 5.
