This injury is not as bad as it could have been. According to GM Jim Nill, Seguin's Achilles was only 15 percent cut.
Two things:
1) Gaudreau will assuredly pass Seguin on the leaderboard for points scored. That's fun.
2) This puts Seguin in doubt for the 1st round of the playoffs. He's an essential part of the attack, so this could put the Stars' chances of getting a good playoff position at risk, and he might not be back in time to help them past the 1st round opponent. Seeing as how we all want the Stars to make the conference final, I figured this news was relevant to the Stars chances.

Tyler Seguin will be out for 3-4 weeks recovering from an injury to his achilles as a skate partially cut it last night.

Even if Seguin does return in time for the beginning of the playoffs, the damage may already be done from the Flames' perspective.
Getting out of the Central will be extremely difficult for any team, but finishing the regular season in 1st, and avouiding the other 2 of the big 3 teams, would be a giant step in the right direction.
Losing Seguin for the rest of the regular season is going to make finishing 1st extremely difficult.

Depends if the Central or Pacific finishes 1st in the West and where NSH ends up. I think finishing 1st and getting rewarded with a 1st round matchup with NSH might actually be worse than finishing 2nd or 3rd and drawing STL. NSH makes it a big 4 in the central.

If there are no complications, then resting Seguin would NOT be the worst thing in the world for the Stars. Winning the Central and home ice advantage is a good thing, but, a playoff team HAS to be able to win under pressure in hostile rinks...Without Sequin, Dallas should simply focus on managing playing time for their top guys, and trying to have legs left for the intense playoff sprint.

playing nashville is no prize...besides from a Flames standpoint they will have to beat 2 of these teams anyway so where they finish to me doesn't really matter.
The Stars are doing this all wrong! The star player is supposed to get injured for 3 months right before the trade deadline so that they can slide him onto LTIR, load up at the deadline and then bring him back for the playoffs!

As long as he's healthy for the playoffs I don't see the issue. I don't think this season there is going to be an easy out in the West outside of the Avs/Wild. If the Stars are going to make the Semi-finals they were always going to face high quality opponents.
