I'd rank the seasons so far as this, depending on how the last 3 episodes go. It will probably bump S3 out of second place.
S1
S3
S6
S4
S5 (Mostly for the rushed Terminus storyline, they built it up for the final half of S4 and ended it within 2/3 episodes)
S2
I see it pretty close to that, except Season 2 should be higher IMO. I assume you put it last because it was too much like soap opera (most common complaint I hear). I liked it, even though Lori was grating, she wasn't NEARLY as annoying as Andrea in S3
I would rank it like this:
S1 (Darabont killed it except for zombies using tools, picking things up etc)
S6 (Depending how they wrap it up, I have faith)
S3 (Governor and Michone are such good characters but Andrea was bad)
S2 (I liked it better than most, Shane was the best, most human villian thus far)
S4 (First half was bad, second half, excluding the Governor episodes, was the best in the series until the finale)
S5 (Almost killed my interest in the series tbh, though it wasn't without some good moments)

Did you binge watch Season 2? Because week-to-week, the build-up to the barn opening was soooo slow. It was pretty much just Little House on the Prairie with the occasional zombie. I do remember having some friends over during the mid-season finale (not specifically to watch TWD), and I ended up turning to AMC just for some background noise. Everybody ended up sitting down and watching 3-4 episodes back-to-back, and it was much better.

I binge watched everything up until season 4, so that may have played into it I guess. Shane was also one of my favorite characters, so that was a huge factor as well.

I think i'm the only person who really liked the Andrea character.
How she kept going back to the Govenor even after he proved to her that he was an insane freak really sealed it for me. Her incessant whining was annoying but that total lack of judgement as she played both sides just blew me away. The dude has his undead daughter on a leash and a collection of walker/human heads in fish tanks, and you are STILL hanging around? WTF?

That was an outstanding episode, to see how the line between good and bad is pretty much gone now, to see such depravity and violence as a necessity to survive is so well displayed by that episode.

If there was ever an apocalyptic event do you think society would end up in this state? Or is it just that it makes for better stories, Mad Max, Walking Dead etc. leave me a bit depressed for mankind. Not that I'm anticipating an zombie apocalypse or anything.
I can see the states being pretty bad, they are almost there already.
Possibly. At this point the survivors are the hardest people around, willing to do anything to survive. If you weren't, you'd be dead. The situation is self selecting.
I liked the episode but it was a little color by number as I knew by the end of the episode Carol and Maggie would escape and the Negans would be dead. Things are starting to go a little too easy for the clan.

Agreed, I think this shows needs to remember that "nobody is safe". I would have liked one of the characters to get knocked off in the prior episode. Maybe instead of calling on the walkie, they sniped somebody from the trees and called on the walkie "do I have you attention".
I do like the "I'm Spartacus" of team Negan.

I loved the Terminus story, and was kind of disappointed how they rushed through it. I mean, that whole season opener episode was amazing, but I would have liked to learn more about them.
I especially loved when they ran into the guys at the church.
"I already made you promise."
Mic drop. Brilliant.
This was a great episode, I loved the way Carol's character had variety to it. Initially I figured that she was BSing the whole time then you realize that some of it is real apprehension and then bam! Carol has to end some fools.
Having a conscience is a luxury.

Nobody is the good guys. I think that's the point.
Right, at this point its just survival. They're trying to get set up to the point where they can live on their own without having to constantly have to scavenge.
But yeah, Rick's group has taken a pretty drastic mercenary shift.
