I'm just going by what the article says. Other than that I have no idea. His twitter page hasn't changed so I may very well be wrong

@JamieThomasTV:
To anyone who has and will send me kind words, thank you. @Sportsnet gave me my first hosting job for #Flames broadcasts. I got to (cont...)
Travel places I never would have gone to work with the best people and start new friendships. Anchoring Sportsnet Central was so fun (cont)
And it was not work it was just hanging out and talking to the viewers and my coworkers. I went to 3 Super Bowls and they gave
me (cont)
The opportunity to follow my passion for football every day. So thank you @Sportsnet for the 9 years. It's a business and I get it (cont)
Finally, the people I worked with and for are the reason I will have another chance in this business. Now...back to football. #NFL #CFL

Bluejays signed Randy Choate to a minor league deal today. He's old as sin but still tough on lefties. Probably insurance because of Loup. I'd rather have Venditte but if you want a Vet loogy then Choate is your man.

Gavin Floyd is looking very good. I hope he doesn't have one of those out clauses in his training camp invite that allows him to sign anywhere he wants after this strong showing.

Jamie Thomas was a likeable character, so it's weird they got rid of the guy. Cybulski on the other hand was someone since his Score days, who I always wanted to reach through the TV and give an atomic weggie to. He always came across as a smug geek.
As for Jamie Campbell, that if true, is really really puzzling. Why? Who's better? Couldn't they have gotten rid of the many numerous hacks on Sportsnet's roster? Really odd.

Floyd isn't a camp invite... he's on a MLB deal.

Right for sure. The article you posted said Jamie Thomas and James Cybulski, neither of whom are Jamie Campbell. I think you're just having a case of confusing Jamies.

Good to hear - Campbell and Zuan worked well together and I actually enjoyed them pre and post game. Looking forward to the game on TV tomorrow - can't wait for the season to start.
My thoughts on Bautista and EE. They keep only one and have them move to the DH spot. Cannot afford both. I think it depends if Pompey looks like he'll pan out in the OF, and then Bautista is much more expendable.

As for announcers, no loss with Cybalski. Since his Score days, tried way too hard to be something he's not. Jamie Thomas did seem like a good guy.
As it relates to the Jays announcing, really looking forward to the 30 or so games that Shulman steps in there along with Buck and Pat. I'm fine with Buck and Pat for the most part, but....people complained about the playoff announce crews but I had no problem with them, and there were so many times that Albert/Renyolds/Verducci caught lots of things that guaranteed would pass right over Pat and Buck's head in those series, and just inning by inning in general....bringing the always entertaining and intelligent Shulman into the mix will bring some of that attention to detail, as well as a different perspective, which will and catch some of those subtle things that Pat and Buck miss (either entirely, or, the wrong interpretation).
As for the team, looking ok from the little I've followed. As we all know, it's all about the pitching this year, the top 5 offensive bats will be there most of the time and the fielding should be too. Be interesting to see how the rest of the division improves.

^^^ I completely agree. Shulman is a true talent in sports media and I am excited to have him take part in Jays games.
I am fine with Buck and Pat as well. Pat definitely mentions "the green light" on 3-0 counts basically every telecast but they have become synonymous with Jays games to me.
I am interested to see how Devon Travis fits in when he is finally healthy to play again, some are saying May he will be back.

It would be so huge for the Jays if they could get some quality starts out of Sanchez this season. Time for Sanchez to take that next big step in his development as a big league pitcher.
The backend of the bullpen seems somewhat set with Cecil/Osuna/Storen.

"Blue Jays fans threaten to toss statue in the lake for Bautista, get a visit from police"
Quote:
A Blue Jays fan who tweeted a threat to toss the Rogers Centre’s statue of Ted Rogers into Lake Ontario if the team didn’t pony up cash for Bautista’s contract got a visit from the police over the weekend – and he’s not only one.
The man tweets anonymously and was disturbed to learn police tracked down his real identity through his Twitter handle and IP address, he said.
|
What a joke! Don't these cops and Rogers have anything better to do?

Rumours about a Cespedes-type deal for Jose.......75 mil over 3 years with a buyout after year 1. I would be ok with that. Just don't want any kind of long term deal.

I think everyone but Jose (and his agent) would be good with this. High AAV in exchange for shorter term.
Just don't see it happening though, especially with Jose being so adamant on not negotiating. If this is truly the Jays' stance then it's a very high likelihood he hits free agency this Fall.

You can, I bought it at Lidz in Market Mall last week. Wouldn't have bought it with the Florida Logo on in it.

Rogers security calling police, give me a break! They are going to need 24 hour security around that statue now if things go bad this year. It will be the face of Blue Jays fans revolt now that they know Rogers is quite fond of it.
