Harrison's junior NCAA season is done.
Colgate lost 4-3 in OT and lost 2-1 in the best of 3 series.
Harrison had 1g in the loss.
While not really impressive relative to a lot of NCAA players, Harrison managed to have a college career high in goals, assists and points.
36gp 8g 9a 17pts
Harrison was 6th on his team in points.

Harrison has made decent progress year-to-year so far in College. - 5 points in 34 games playing limited time as a freshman
- 11 points in 37 games as a sophomore
- 16 points in 35 games as a junior
The good news is that he hasn't regressed in any season, but I doubt it's enough for him to get a contract after next season.

I am really curious about Harrison. He looked like such a good physical guy who can be difficult to play against - but is it because he was willing to go a bit further in a Flames' scrimmage than other players? Is he really going to be that guy?
I think it would be smart for the Flames to give him an ATO and see how he does at the AHL level. He does have good wheels and he can play physical. I would personally like to see how he is at the AHL level for a short while to see how his game is among pros. I personally think at this point that BVB (and especially Hathaway) is probably a much better prospect for that 'type' than Harrison is, but you never know.
Worth the ATO anyways, I figure.

I actually like Harrison quite a bit. He's great development camps. Progressed ever year in college. I would be disappointed if the Flames don't offer him a contract.
He was scouted by the Eastern/NCAA scout, who told mgmt to select him so he's a favorite of some scout.

Merrimack won their game on Sunday, so Providence will host them next weekend in a best of three quarter-final.
The two teams played a home-and-home in early December and PC won both games, getting a shutout in the game at Providence.
BU and Mass-Lowell split their season series, with each team winning at home. They appear to be two evenly-matched teams. It wouldn't be a surprise if they have to play all three games to find a winner.

He's been a favourite of mine as well since he clocked Baertschi in the development camp a few years ago. Not because he hit him, but that he didn't care who it was and he did his job. Any time you have a guy that's 6-3 and quick, that's a good combination for a player that can be moulded into a good bottom sixer down the road.
I'd be surprised if Harrison wasn't signed. Same generic type of player as Austin Carroll.

I'm not sure point totals are what the Flames are looking at when they look at Harrison. Points are great and all but if he has an NHL career it will be as a bottom 6 energy/checking RW

Providence begins its Hockey East tournament battle tonight. Best of 3 series with Merrimack that takes place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Friars will be without Walman who is their best d-man.
A little on Gilmour in this article.
http://www.providencejournal.com/spo...without-walman
Quote:
John Gilmour isn’t one of those kids who was born with skates on. He didn’t take to the ice until he was 6 years old.
"Maybe a little later than most kids in Canada," the Montreal native says.
Once he got started, "My father put me in power skating. My weekends would be dominated by going from rink to rink, ice session to ice session."
And, boy, has Gilmour ever gotten the hang of it.
The Providence College senior has developed into one of the top offensive defensemen in Hockey East, thanks in large part to his superb skating. And he’s playing his best hockey of the season at a time when the Friars need him most.
With star defenseman Jake Walman out with a shoulder injury, the second-seeded Friars will look to Gilmour to continue his strong play in this weekend’s Hockey East quarterfinal series against seventh-seed Merrimack.
PC coach Nate Leaman is expecting a difficult series against the Warriors, who defeated New Hampshire, two games to one, in the opening playoff round last weekend.
"It’s gonna be a rock fight. They’re a well-coached team that makes adjustments," said Leaman. "They’re a hard forechecking team. They contest the puck all the time. You’ve got to play fast."
That’s where Gilmour — and the rest of PC’s strong-skating backliners — come in.
To play defense for Leaman, you better be able to get around the rink. One of the underrated elements of Providence College’s success over the last few seasons has been a very mobile defense corps.
"Mobility is the most important thing to playing D. When your team is mobile you can make mistakes and you can recover," Leaman said.

And that's where Darryl Sutter had his downfall after the obstruction changes. We dealt Lydman for a 3rd who was one of our most mobile defenders. Kept guys like Warrener and Sarich who had mobility issues.
Mobility on defense was a big part of why we surprised last year IMO.

I like mobility and I also like size. If we can't find players who have both we need a mix of players. Gilmore may fit in but I don't have high expectations.

Not calling for Hartley to lose his job, but when it happens at some point down the road, I could see Leaman taking over the bench for Calgary.

Never thought about that, but Leeman does seem like a very good coach.
Honestly, I wish he could be the Heat coach. Huska has improved, but..
Gilmore is interesting. I hope we can continue to see him progress further.

Noticing Hickey is playing a lot of right side this game. If it is common for this season, could help explain his assist total if he is playing his off side.

BU loses 3-2 in their first game of their best of 3 series
no points for Hickey
BU plays again tomorrow night in a must win game for the Hockey East Tournament.
Even if they lose, there is a very good chance BU gets invited to the National tournament
