Was watching some streams. It looks really good, but I wish it was FPS rather than over the shoulder.
Might be a while before I can pick it up, as I have a pretty heavy school load for the next month. How come all the games I want are released at the worst times?
For the best, give them a few months to iron out the glitches and bugs then you'll get a cheaper, better working version. Getting games on release is overrated when they are almost always a little overpriced and a little unfinished, especially online games.
Yup, really feeling that perspective as well. It truly is a social RPG with shooter attributes in how you can actually become specialized despite the core mechanic of 'shoot all bad guys'. Abilities, talents, guns, mods within that and armor all help to give you a sense of progression and specialization though it doesn't truly matter until you reach max level.
At least seeing all the numbers go up (DPS, health, skill) is a good feeling and making decisions between the attributes makes each choice and piece of equipment valuable in their own right. About L17 now, starting to see purples in the vendors which is tempting.
Alas it only makes sense to save up and spend when at max level. Playing through encounters and missions supply enough loot to supplement equipment progression with your own leveling.
Wish I had more time this week, about 5 hours in and lvl 9. Really digging the game so far. Playing in long stretches can get a bit repetitive, but otherwise the game is fantastic.
Between just doing random missions and encounters with friends, it's nice to just play a game while taking things easy relatively, until some of the more end game content comes out.
Started out heavily relying on sniper early on. Getting more and more perks and different skills/guns makes it so much more enjoyable with the different kind of guns.
Currently running with a Classic M60, Tech Signature Perk for extra damage and defensive/healing buffs to make the bullets rain nonstop.
I wasn't too impressed with the beta but I decided to get the game anyway. I am about 9 hours in and I just hit level 10. So far I am really liking the game. I've played some missions with a couple friends as well as tackled a bunch of side missions on my own. I actually enjoying just running around solo and taking in/exploring the city at my own pace.
It has some very striking visuals as well. Fire effects look amazing. The first time I walked outside into a white-out blizzard I had to stop to admire the weather effects. I love all of the little details like snow accumulating on your character.
How is this for someone who's really into the single player content mostly?
It would be ok I think.
You can do most missions on your own but it's more fun with other people. Also the main missions have matchmaking before you start them, so if you feel it's too hard you could always use it.
Playing alone = ok, playing with others is really where the game shines.
Reached lvl 30 and entered the dark zone late yesterday - The high level dark zones (5 & 6) are insane and a real treat to play. The Challenge mode versions of the missions are also extremely hard and part of what makes the game fun. Need to think, and move a LOT, you're shots need to be timed properly and accurately it was refreshing.
I was watching a few streamers playing it, and it looks pretty fun. Seems like base version of the game isn't worth buying if the DLC packages are coming in the next few months though. I wouldn't mind playing the game, but $130 for the Gold package seems pretty steep. I'll probably pick it up at some point when the price comes down (I'm guessing around the release of the first DLC). I'm keeping an eye out on deals though!
Level 19 here. I spent the past couple days playing around in the DZ both with friends and by myself. I am having a lot more fun in there than I did in beta. Two agents tried to jump me yesterday while I was soloing mobs. It felt pretty awesome when I wrecked their faces. Especially when I could hear them talking to each other over the proximity voice chat. I've also managed to find some pretty good gear in there as well.
