Default Idea: The Calgarypuck Calgary Flames Hall of Fame

Hey everyone,

I've had an idea. This season marks the 36th anniversary of the Calgary Flames. In those 36 years, we've had a whole lot of exceptional players play for our team.

I propose we start a Calgary Flames Hall of Fame on this board. Every year, starting in March, we would nominate potential members into the CFHoF.

Rules:

1. Potential entrants would have to have retired three years - or longer - before their induction. Players retired less than three years ago are ineligible.

2. Potential inductees would be established through a voting process, in which you would post your 10 most deserving players in a post. The eight players with the most votes would be put up for a vote.

For example, my list of the 10 most deserving players is:

Lanny McDonald
Kent Nilsson
Theoren Fleury
Joe Nieuwendyk
Al MacInnis
Miikka Kiprusoff
Doug Gilmour
Gary Suter
Hakan Loob
Jim Peplinski

3. From the pool of eight players, you'll vote for three to be inducted. If you vote for more than three players, none of your votes count. In order to be inducted, a player must garner at least 18% of the vote.

4. No fewer than 2 and no more than 4 players can be inducted in one year. One builder (coach, GM, executive, owner, etc.) can be inducted per year, but this is not mandatory.

What are your thoughts on this idea? If it's terrible, let me know. If it needs revisions, great, tell me. Perfect? Well, I'm sure it isn't, but if you think it is, say it.

Also, this season is actually the 36th anniversary of the Calgary Flames.

I like the idea, also, it's hard to believe we're already 3 years removed from Kipper's retirement.

For hall of shame, I nominate Chris Butler. I remember all the times Butler did something dumb and all people could say was "the butler did it..."

In all seriousness this sounds terrible.

You vote for 8 players and then vote for 3 of those 8 players and not 4 of those 8 players or your 3 votes don't count and then at least 2 of those players or up to 4 of those players gets voted in if they've been voted in with at least 18% of the vote even though the top two players could conceivably both be under 18% and still be the top 2 players.

It's the worst voting system I can imagine. You really want to spend time doing up a spreadsheet and counting out written votes to get a top 8, followed by counting individual votes to make sure nobody voted an extra time?

You're interesting.

Interesting. Sure. Lets call it that.

In the case of whether the no one's above 18%, the two players with the most votes make it in.

It's actually much simpler than you've made it seem. However, what system would you propose? It's just a concept, you know.

I thought this was going to be a Calgary Puck user hall of fame, and I came to nominate The Scorpion and moon.
