Haha, the "bring-back-Iginla" crowd. Almost as annoying as the "lets get some more Leafs players" crowd.

Chill out dudes. Its only natural. We need a big physical scoring RW almost as bad as we need a goalie. He is our top scorer ever. We could use another leader on the team especially up front. Most of us still have the memories and the jerseys.

Why do you react like this when people mention, ponder, speculate, dream of literally the best player ever to wear a flaming C comes back and plays with Mony and Johnny.

Im not 100% for it. But I certainly dont ridicule the idea...

Who would? Its not like a liverpool fan asking to bring steven gerrard back from the MLS and into the premier league. Iginla is still scoring 30 in this same league against the same opposition we face every season and being a health & fitness nut like Jagr he probably wont quit for a while.

I'd have iggy back - if he realizes its not his team, its gios team. He can wear an A. I'd give him a decent contract but nothing like hes on now. Also the locker room culture cant turn back into that mid 30s country club vibe when he was here last. One more thing... I wouldnt trade for him. I'd sign him as an FA. Im not cool with trading for iggy. He wont be cheap, and its stupid trading for a player you traded away, i dont like that.

If he's cool with that - welcome back the LEGEND and you can find me in the dome chillin with Jarome.

That's the hangup right there. The team needs a RW for 2016-17, and Iginla is still under contract with the Avs that season. It remains to be seen if the Flames will still have that hole to fill in 2017-18.

Like you, in principle, I'd be fine with bringing him back as a free agent. But he's not the answer to any of our questions about next season's roster.

Agreed. So there you have it Iggy crowd, lets leave the people of CP alone about this until iginla is expiring and focus on someone who can help us in 2017. We're going to have to stand down like Cliven Bundy.

For the time being I think Hartley should be trying Colborne as 1st line RW. He and Monahan had some chemistry together in their first season in Calgary. Colborne has the vision, size & hands to be able to keep up with Johnny & Mony & at this stage of the season there is nothing to lose. Just like how we need to see a lot from Ortio for the remainder of the season I think we need to see what Colborne is capable of when given bigger responsibility. It's the make-or-break time in his career and if he can take the bull by the horns with Monahan & Gaudreau he may actually prove to be a part of the future here in Calgary.

Longer-term I would hope we might go for Okposo. Even-longer-term I hope we luck out & get one of these Finnish RWers in the draft. A goalie & some good natural RWers and we will have a good balanced team going into next season.

I don't think we can afford Okposo. Reports from Islanders fans indicate his contract is going to come in somewhere around 6.5 or more per season; at least, the vast majority of them would be fine with this price tag.

Ugh... Yeah, tough to fit that into our pay structure. I suppose we won't know where we stand until Gaudreau & Monahan have put pen to paper.

I suppose that's all the more reason to make due with some of the resources we have. Colborne is still a rough diamond and could be a useful player for us. Hopefully we land one of the good RWers in the draft too, and with any luck Poirier takes some big steps in the offseason towards making the big club.

It's funny how quickly you can go from having the best RW in the game (but no decent Cs) to having a few good Cs and no RWers.
