how'd you feel being on that AHL team?
"oh so glad you decided you weren't too good to play with us"
and
"bow to his highness"
Figure that room probably won't be the most fun place for Drouin to be.

I can imagine him showing up at practice after all these weeks on the couch pouting
Hercules: First, I must loosen up. I am very tight. [ continues to stretch ]
Helena: Hercules! I beg you. Don't! [ Hercules bends over to lift the boulder ] Hercules! The legs! Lift with the legs!
Hercules: [ starting to raise the boulder, stopping suddenly ] My back! I think I pulled it! [ he lays on the ground, as Helena runs over to help ] This happened once before. Leave me alone. If I lie flat like this, it will fix itself.

Whether it was he, his parents. or his agents idea to sit out he has swallowed his pride and acknowledged it was a bad idea. All he has to do now is let his play do the talking and things will sort themselves out and he's either going to be traded or part of the Lightning's long term plans. Either way the situation will likely be sorted out by the draft.

I guess he finally decided to listen to Messier - I heard him (Mess) on an interview last week saying that Drouin just had to get back playing - there can be a time to holdout, but for a young player like Drouin this was not the time!

I think Stamkos exits this summer and Drouin suddenly finds an opportunity. No better lesson than shooting yourself in the foot.

seems like everyone loves a good downfall story, but I want the redemption story even more. the league needs more guys like Gaudreau, Datsyuk and Kane who can put butts in seats with their puck wizardry. I want Drouin to be reformed and succeed because the more skill on display at the NHL level, the better.
...and also fantasy hockey. but nobody wants to hear about that of course.

Drouin is not the first 20 year old, nor the last 20 year old to make a poor choice.
He corrected his poor decision and now needs to respond on the ice and in the room, in a positive way.

Was it Drouin who made the decision to return? We don't know.
What if he's still a pouty and entitled brat, and Yzerman simply informed the agent that no trade will happen so long as Drouin is sitting out. That's a possibility. And frankly, to me, it's the more believable scenario.

I am not convinced that he 'saw the light' and corrected his past mistake.
I think it is simply the case that, with the trade deadline passed, he can no longer be traded, so he may as well play. Nothing else he can do.

Little known fact, he can in fact still be traded. He is no longer eligible to play in the NHL playoffs after a trade however.

Yzerman probably wants Drouin playing. Sitting him isn't helping anybody.

Yes, I know he can be, in the literal sense.
But the fact of the matter is that trades almost never happen, especially when involving players on both sides (as opposed to picks).
What I meant was he effectively can't be because putting a trade together is close to impossible at this point.

The Rumour close to the situation was that he fired his agent in the last week, wonder if that ends up being true.

That's the thing precisely. Why would any team trade for him now if he would be ineligible to play for them? Might as well wait till the run-up to draft day.
