These guys come in and it’s always a nice polite one. You serve them because you dont want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.

Check some local liquor stores, it looks like a Budweiser give away hat, it probably has "BUD" printed on the cheap plastic adjustment strap on the back.

For some reason I find the Flames have some seriously limited quantities of apparel. I have a snapback hat that's a throwback to the old horsehead jersey. I bought the last one I saw at Jersey City. A few friends/family who are Flames fans have commented that they really like it and I wanted to get one as a gift for a few people... Do you think I was ever able to find this hat again? Nope. Same thing happened with a retro third style toque I bought. It's like they made one and I happened to be the lucky guy that found it at the store.
I also really wish the Chinese knock off sites would focus more on hats. I'd never buy a knock off jersey but I'd buy a hat without a second thought.

I get what you are saying and the hat you posted as an example demonstrates what you are talking about, I agree it looks bad. The "Flames" and the "C" look almost like they're glued together, they don't flow. However I think the one I posted is the complete opposite, they did a good job with it. The "Flames" on the back of the C flow into the actual C. Hence I disagree with your assertion that they are the same and that the hat I like is an example of the poor embroidery you pointed out.

Of course, everyone has their tastes.
But both those embroidery styles don't do it for me.
I tend to go for hats that aren't embroidered at all, like this:
 
I'm not sure what you call that, but just a solid Flames logo. I'm not saying I like this particular hat, but just for illustration purposes.

interesting topic ...
I'm with the embroidery crowd, simply hate them. I've been looking for a plain red hat with a white C (non-embroidered) forever.
Found one that was close, but it had an odd tenting effect that made me look like a combine operator.
