The Trump press conference tonight should be really interesting. I expect it to be hard hitting against Cruz because the numbers seem to be showing Rubio as falling off the board and Cruz being the contender.
Hillary actually ended up with 11 more delegates on the night. He's just winning states that are too small in addition to his demographic problems. The numbers are not in his favor going forward either.

Sanders won Kansas and Nebraska. That’s the good news for him. The bad news is he’s even further from the nomination than he was before the day started: He lost Louisiana, and, in doing so, fell even further behind in the delegate hunt.

Let’s take a look at the math. Sanders won 23 delegates in Kansas to Clinton’s 10. He won — preliminarily — 14 delegates in Nebraska to Clinton’s 11. That’s a margin of 16 delegates.

In losing Louisiana, however, Sanders only claimed 12 delegates to Clinton’s 39.

Combine the three states, and Clinton gained 11 delegates on Sanders.

This shows 49 for Sanders and 55 for Clinton. Still a loss for Sanders but only a narrow margin.

He needs big wins, not narrow losses. The 15th should be his last stand, if he loses by 20-30 points as he might in Florida and Michigan, it's hard to make the case him continuing is good for the party's chances of winning the general. I see a lot of Bernie supporters counting on California and New York to help as big delegate states, but the demographics there suggest a Hillary win, probably in the 2:1 region. His best chance at this point is her getting indicted.

Does anyone here prefer Cruz to trump.

If Cruz were to win the general the U.S. Supreme Court would be solidly packed with the hard right. Donald Trump is a wild card but Cruz is clearly terrible.

A Cruz presidency is clearly the darkest timeline. If he ends up taking the nomination and Hillary's scandals come back to hit her during the general, the US and world as a whole will enter a very dark age for at least the next 4 years

Agreed. Cruz has a cult-leader feel about him.

Even if he can't win, Bernie staying in (while also not attacking Clinton heavily) acts as a bit of an insurance policy in case Hilary ends up taking serious hits that make her a less viable candidate.

It's a shame the way the Dem race is shaping up. I see the remaining contenders as being one excellent choice (Sanders), one tolerable choice (Clinton), one crazy-ass wild card (Trump), and one crazy-like-a-fox slimeball (Cruz). It looks like the best option is close to bowing out, and the worst one is gaining steam.

When John McCain calls you a "wacko" there is surely a big problem. Cruz is hated big time.

Nancy Reagan has died.

Expect maudlin speeches from Cruz and Rubio as they continue to try to hitch their wagons to distorted memories of The Gipper.

Counter point. Vote for Trump.

It looks like a 2 horse race now between Cruz and Trump, both are equally crazy options one just gets more TV time and to be honest is a hell of a lot funnier with his good words, no, the best words. I will enjoy the next 8 months from a pure entertainment angle.

However, seeing as the likely Democratic nominee is Clinton, Trump is consistently polling behind Clinton whereas Cruz is consistently polling slightly ahead of Clinton. If the goal is to keep crazy from the white house then voting Trump is currently the most likely way to do it.

And I say this as someone who really really doesn't like Clinton.

I don't think Trump believes half of what he says. Cruz does. I would honestly be more worried about Cruz

I like how Trump has redefined flip flopping which used to hound candidates into being flexible now when he changes his position the day after the debate.

Going back to the discussion where some on here were arguing that the Republican party isn't racist and they don't present racist policies because you can't prove they're racist policies, they just happen to affect minorities the most, similar to how someone says they're not punching you they're just going to punch their fist in the direction of your face and you may get hit.

Anyways, SNL had a beauty bit on that with Jason Sudeikis as Romney. It's at the 5min mark. I thought it was great.

"Now governor why have you decided to speak out against Trump?

For the last 9 months I've sat down and watched Trump say something every day that was either racist or sexist. And we at the GOP do not say racist and sexist things. We IMPLY them, subtly over decades and decades of policy

So far this democratic debate has had more barbs than those in the past.

If the gloves come off in this nomination race you'd have to think Bernie has the leg up.

Bernie did fine but his answer about not supporting the auto bailout won't help him in Michigan or Ohio where he needs it. Otherwise it was the same as the other debates with a little more screaming, but it likely won't change many people's opinions.

I thought Bernie said bailing out the auto industry was the correct thing to do but did not support bailing out the banks in the mortgage crisis?

I preface this saying I am not overly fond of Donald Trump, but...

The Trump/Hitler comparisons are ridiculous, disrespectful, and annoying.

Bernie Sanders must be a Nazi too.

Spoiler!

Cruz definitely scares me more than Trump. Trump believes in Donald Drumpf himself and almost nothing else; Cruz believes in a whole lot of things that absolutely would make the world a much worse place.
