#Flames D Jakub Nakladal was, per usual, smiling in locker-room after game. He doesn't believe his right-eye injury is serious.
Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Hartley said no serious eye damage to Nakladal. Good news for him and the #Flames.

FWIW, Ortio is now up to a .908 since his callup. Still .895 on the season... that Montreal debacle where he didn't get a mercy pull is definitely hurting him.
Super happy with the win. Beat a team that has traditionally given them problems in a building that has traditionally given them problems. Despite having a horrendous road record and losing streak, they found a way to win. It's just good to know they can still do it against a superior opponent when they want to.
I just want them to win every 3rd or 4th game down the stretch. If they do that, and end up bottom 3, I'll be happy.

Oh, and I'm sufficiently satisfied with Ortio to sign him to a contract as our backup next year. He's not a starter, but I'm pretty sure he can be a very serviceable backup to an experienced starter.

You know, I'm still not sold on him being a lost cause.
Today reminded me of shades of Kipper who also had a tendency to play poorly until you let him play himself into a groove.
Ortio's opportunities have been chaotic and sporadic at best. We have nothing to lose now, let him play and see what we've got.

Ortio was really good, but I'm not sure that he should be let off the hook on the first goal. His job is to track the puck and he totally lost where it was off the missed shot. Bad luck, but if he knew it was coming back that way he hugs the post and it doesn't get behind him.
Calgary has lost 10 of their last 11 I believe. If you're going to throw him into the fray, this afternoon is a low risk situation.
Kunitz and Crosby Reunite!

Great just completely ignore what happened last game. Im sure that line-up will work better today.

I mean, WTF? We changed them last game for a reason.

Kunitz is going to be with Sid until [he] retires.

Kunitz is the god that god prays to.

Lmao...
I feel bad for Calgary with that one.

Can’t take any team for granted. Yikes

Oh fiddlesticks
Quote:
I don't think it's a kick
Quote:
Yikes, don’t like the tie right away.
Quote:
you can intentionally deflect it with your skate now, you just can't propel it. You can change direction, but not add speed I guess. Its weird, but I think that's what it is now.
Quote:
So if that's not considered a kick, Pens should try some of that
As lng as the foot is not moving towards the goal at contact, I guess anything is fair game. Use the foot to deflect would make defenders job tougher. Try that against the Rangers next time.
Damn it Wideman

WE JUST GOT AWAY WITH 8 PLAYERS ON THE ICE....

all from a terrible kunitz pass

Can we have a lead for more than 20 seconds?

I know, this is not the time of the season when you can afford to cavalierly drop a game against one of the absolute worst teams in the league. They need these two points more than bread.

Can’t…enjoy…this….game.
Everybody hates Kunitz

Are you serious Kunitz? He dind't want to take a hit so he just skated right by it.

FHUSAGISG Kunitz DIDN"T EVEN TRY TO GET THE THAT PUCK

wtf was that from kunitz. he literally just quit on that puck.

Kunitz..
If you have DVR, go back and watch the Pens rush.
And tell us what the #### Kunitz was doing on that blind backhand pass.
Because I can’t even try to venture a guess.
That led directly to the Flames coming back the other way.
Quote:
Kunitz watches the puck go by him and doesn't push it down further...what a moron.
Quote:
Please stitch Hagelin quickly. I cannot handle the idea of Kunitz double shifting

Kunitz one handling it along the Wall and falls to get it out. Driving me crazy

Kunitz with a stupid drop pass
Leads to a goal.
Quote:
Remember when people thought that Malkin-Kessel would cover up for Kunitz? You underestimated Chris.
Quote:
Kunitz is so worthless. Kessel had to backcheck for him on his off wing because he did a blind back pass instead of dumping it in then didn't get back to play d.
He's beyond useless. So mad he's still on this team.
Quote:
I'm pretty close to the point where I'd rather have Engelland playing forward with his current contract than Kunitz right now…
Quote:
Chris Kunitz
192:06 and counting without a shot on goal.
The equipment guys should secretly replace Kessel's 65 flexes with 85s.

Lots of things should and shouldn't have been done by Phil in this game. Couldn't catch a pass, couldn't make a pass, I'm not even sure he knew what position he was playing today. Wtf

And once again, he misses a wide open opportunity...

HUGE win over the Rangers and they follow it up with this ####.
At least if they tie it and go to OT, Calgary getting a point too doesn’t affect them at all.
Calgary’s goalie came in 0-6 with a sub .900 save%, and the Pens have two goals.

Game over. Gross showing this afternoon by the Pens.

Never will understand this team. Play lights out against NYR, then get hustled by a bottom feeder with a goalie who's 0-6.
Not too mention tomorrow ends the back-to-back against a team pushing for the last WC slot that the Pens are ####ting away security on by losing to teams like this. ####.

Getting beat by the 2nd worst team in the NHL before 9 straight division games. That's a real punch in the dick.

gonna lose to ****ing calgary. These late season afternoon games against the West used to be guaranteed blowouts by the Pens.

With Hiller in net, this is easily a loss. Flames are lucky that Crosby didn't score on his potential 3rd goal. Should have counted IMO. But you take the break and run. Solid effort all around and the only bad thing about this loss is that the Flames are out of the playoff race. But a very fun win to watch.
Wow...all the Kunitz hate is stupid. He's a +27 (him and Maatta are by far the best on the team), and he has 32 points in 62 games. Sounds like some of the irrational hate for veterans that happens around here sometimes. Give him a break for having a bad game or bad play now and then.

Well with the Flames winning already and Buffalo losing, I'll be cheering for Toronto, Winnipeg, Phoenix, Vancouver and Columbus to win tonight. Would absolutely hate to see this awful season go to waste and have us end up with a 7-10th overall pick (or worse) like we are so commonly known for.
