I predict the Flames take a lot of questionable penalties. 7 or 8 of them again.

Keep Crosby off the score sheet and that's a victory in my book.

Afternoon game on the road against a superior team? Yup, this is a disaster in the making.

5-2 Pens.

Just in case you're all wondering: Scratch Schultz yet again. Won't play as a defenseman or a forward today. Pencil Josh Archibald in on the 4th line right wing.

Thank you. Making up these photos are helping to keep me sane.

Confidence boost. A player may have a disaster of a game, but he can still say to himself "At least I'm not Justin Schultz"

He would have been a good project if the trade was for a conditional 7th. A 3rd though? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Just another bad move for Rutherford. It's kind of sad to see the prime of Crosby's career being squandered by bad management.

Schultz as a forward makes a lot of sense, actually. He's a good skater and puck handler, much like Shane O'Brien, but he has a better shot.

If he could learn to chase the deep puck into the offensive zone, he could actually be successful there

Looks like Bob Hartley is going to split up Mark Giordano and TJ Brodie. Giordano skating with Deryk Engelland, Brodie with Dougie Hamilton.

Wow. That is really quite shocking. However, makes a lot more sense to have 2 lefty/righty pairings than a lefty/lefty pairing and a righty/righty pairing.

Just getting primed for next season when they need to split up Gio and Brodie because they have Hamonic.

That's what I thought as well, but when you look at the 1997-98 team that finished with only 67 points, they had some good players on the team up front.

1996-97 forwards > 2015-16 forwards.

Fleury was still a ppg player, similar to the season Gaudreau is having. You could argue that Stillman, Titov, Cassels and Nylander were better down the middle than the Flames current group of centers. The 96-97 roster also had a young Iginla and a 20 goal scorer in Marty Mcinnis.

Obviously the Flames have a lot of young talent in the forward group right now and if you were building a team, you would pick the current group over the 96-97 group, but they don't have the depth or experience the 96-97 team had.

1996-97 defense < 2015-16 defense

The current Flames are clear cut winner here because of the top 3 of Brodie, Giordano and Hamilton. The 96-97 had some solid veterans in Albelin and Patrick, and an up-and-comer with Morris, but overall a terrible d-corps.

1996-97 goalies = 2015-16 goalies

The Flames in 96-97 were using two below average goalies in Tabaracci and Roloson, very similar to the below average goaltending they have now with Hiller and Ramo.

If these two teams were to play in a best of seven, it wouldn't be surprising to see it go to 7 games.
