So that's what Hiller looks like when he takes away the top corners.

If Ortio gets pulled, is it better leaving the net empty for the come back or putting Hiller in?

Afternoon game + thin scoring depth + rookie starting goalie + Penguins in playoff race + hot Crosby = ????
Somehow it keeps adding up to a loss for me. Is anyone else getting that?

Win or lose the Flames are gonna set a new record for penalties in a game.
12 minors
2 5 min majors
And at least one 10 and a game. Probably to Hartley.

That picture of Hiller is funny. This is what it makes me think.

Mods should make a poll: Will this be the worst iteration of the Flames in franchise history? 66 points would make that a reality, which will happen if team fails to get more than 10 points in their last 18 games. Going 5-13 or worse down the stretch will ensure the worst record in franchise history. For the record, I believe they will get 67 points or worse.
Crazy when you think about the success of last season combined with tangible roster upgrades over the summer. Quite the fascinating story if you can get past how painful this is. If that happens, I just hope we can get draft higher than the 6 OA they managed the last time they set a low water mark.

These are easily the best part of the GDTs. Thanks for all the effort you put into the pictures, and for making me laugh. Although the games have been pretty bleak lately, I look forward to see what the puppet is up to.

Those pics say it all. There is Fleury down in the butterfly to make the save. There is Hiller doing the running man in mid air during play.

That's what happens when your goaltending disappears and your entire coaching staff is exposed. Its painful. I was looking at picture I posted on Instagram from the home opener that I captioned "First game a season ticket holder!"... So much optimisim.... So much excitement. I remember when we were doing our draft we were being strategic about these last games, thinking they might be crucial for the stretch drive. lol. very sad lol.

This team just isn't as bad as those mid 90's teams, not even close. I watched both eras and the Young Guns were a substantially worse team.
The difference is the NHL is way better now than right in the middle of expansion. Back then there was like 8-10 bad teams. Right now there's one really bad roster (TOR), one pretty unbalanced one (EDM) and then the rest of the league has a decent amount of talent IMO.
In my time of watching hockey this is the deepest the league has been in terms of the talent and the best the league has been overall. Not many free wins in today's NHL. As gloomy as some of you may be right now we're only a few pieces from being a playoff contender, that's how tight the league is.

I agree this team isn't nearly as bad, which is why I find this so shocking. We are only a couple pieces away from being a perennial playoff team, but everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong this year. I've never seen anything like it tbh, and I've been watching hockey for 25 years. I'm not worried about the future at all, but this season has been something else.

Can anyone confirm who's getting the start in net?
Edit: NVM, Flames.com are saying Ortio is getting the start
