22 out of my 25 focus group members said tonight’s #GOPDebate will hurt Republicans in the general election.

This has to stop. Seriously.
Pretty much. Kasich looked like the front runner just by staying out of the gutter. Interestingly Rubio staying in the race might be the best way to beat Trump, not because he can beat him but because he certainly has figured out how to really piss Trump off and make him look like a 2 year old (no disrespect to 2 year olds)

I finally get this song . I mocked it when I was 15 when it came out. After watching the last 8 years unfold, I finally appreciate this song.

NSFW. Words that some offices find unacceptable.

The problem (and I say problem because I just don't agree with many of his policies) is that Trump just doesn't look that unreasonable on the debate stage a lot of the time. Should he be making cracks about the size of his genitals? Likely not, but most would-be supporters just don't care and laugh it off. He is almost surely wrong and has flip-flopped on some issues, but he's playing the "outsider" and "flexible" card so that justifies it.

Even I as a complete non-supporter felt that the more Fox was fact-checking him it almost made me sympathize with him in a sort of underdog way. Like here is a guy who is the subject of a witch-hunt and I just disagree that this angle should be taken. I could be alone in that regard, but them attacking him so obviously almost made me like him more.

Between that and the the fact that the other choices left are probably worse, I can see how he's steam-rolling towards the nomination. Its one thing to say that Trump shouldn't be president and I'm inclined to agree...but if the other choice is Ted Cruz then I don't know that I'd be against Trump.

If I was in the states though I'd basically be hoping that Bloomberg jumps in as an independent and gives a viable third option. Regardless though, that debate was great viewing once the game was out of hand last night!

Can anyone explain who the contested convention works and how Romney can possibly jump into the nomination process?

Internet polls don't really help; most of those people probably didn't even watch.

The biggest problem for the people who see this as Romney does is that it looks like Rubio's going to lose in Florida.

I suggest you watch the West Wing episode "2162 votes", where this same scenario played out.

Basically, they do multiple ballots. On the first ballot, the delegates are tied to their candidate based on the votes in the primaries. On the second ballot, they're not. So if someone starts handing out Romney placards, by the second and third ballot, he could have delegates from many northeastern and midwestern states in his pocket, depending on what the other candidates do.

This whole thing is just too ####ed up now. He has a good chunk of people opposing him because they think he's a fascist/racist/dictator....but then you have the Cruz and Rubio supporters who don't think he's extreme enough for their liking. Trump is still probably the least extreme of the 4 remaining choices. It's also hilarious to see an anti-free trade, pro universal health care candidate winning the GOP race. Also sort of shows the priorities of the base, they'll abandon "conservative" principles for a wall and no more Muslims.

The most embarrassing thing is that after condemning Trump as a con-artist and liar and whatever else that they would back him if he wins the nomination. Seems like an easy opening to say "he's so far gone that I don't think that I could support him", but nope, they took the easy way out. Clearly these are men of principle!

Yup. Pretty much goes like this for the GOP field

August 2015 - April 2016: Trump is a con man, he's a fraud, he's a misogynist, he's not principled, he's not a conservative, his manhood is lacking, he's a liar, he's PT. Barnum...

May 2016 onward - I support Trump! Go Trump!

An analyst on CBC radio the other day said that the Democrats should just be saving all these soundbytes of Republicans criticizing Trump and then play them during the election as their attack ads.

Another good jobs report with another 240k jobs added and now the 5th month in a row of increased participation in the labor market for the US.

Anti Free Trade??.....Maybe you should listen to what he has to say before judging....he makes the statement that the United States has a huge trade deficit with virtually EVERY country, and US companies are moving from the United States to pay less taxes which takes away jobs from the economy. He's the only one that talks about this and IMO its a HUGE issue that is bankrupting the country (i.e. 21 Trillion in debt).

As for your comment about universal health care please inform yourself before spouting off non truths.... https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positio...lthcare-reform

You still haven't answered my question from yesterday in the other thread: Are you even an American?

Also you just pointed out how Trump is anti-free trade. All those things you listed occurred because of free trade. Trump wants to stop them by...ending free trade. Oh and Yesbama keeps making the economy hum. Trump will destroy it like most of his business ventures.

Canadian dollar is up to $.75 against the greenback due to the jobs report and some other stuff.

Would be nice if we could get to $.85 with oil not having to go crazy.
