Sometimes the causes are difficult to pinpoint. The brain is so complex and at key stages of development, something relatively overlooked and forgotten can have a big effect on how things get wired since it is almost like a butterfly effect on how the personality develops. People spend years in therapy trying to figure these things out sometimes.

I really don't want to believe that there is a "pedophilia" gene like some people are saying. That is too close to saying that it is on some level a natural state for some people.

Disregard all claims by behavioural geneticists. They don't have a solid track record.

And this is why learning about what pedophilia is, is needed. T@T and pylon can beat their chest and get angry because anger feels good but it doesn't help anything. Suggesting people who have committed no crime except a thought in their head should be murdered is so backwards it's scary.

We need to foster an environment where someone who has these thoughts, as disgusting as they are, feels safe to step forwards, be questioned, studied etc. Then and only then can we actually learn something, that isn't going to happen if we just start killing people who haven't committed a crime of any sort. Like I said, it's an obvious touchy subject. But having this issue in the shadows isn't going to help anyone.

Made this post rather quickly so hope I got the above through clearly.

Also,

I can guarantee, any of you 'woe is pedophile' crowd would not be taking this stance if you or a loved one had been victimized by one. Period.
This is stupid and you're wrong.

Not everyone is as much of an open book on this forum as you are pylon, you like to inject a bit of your life story into most posts you make, that's fine but it's not everyone's style. Don't go assuming you know mine, my families, my friends or anyone else's life story because they think differently then you. Makes you look like a supreme ignoramus.

Pedophile sandwich pitchman Jared Fogle, just three months into a 16-year prison sentence, has put on 30 cake-fueled pounds behind bars, according to a published report.
Quote:
“He’s really started packing on the pounds again, probably from depression,” a prison insider told In Touch magazine, estimating that Jared has gained 30 pounds.

“Jared’s breakfast is usually Frosted Flakes with fruit or oatmeal with cake. He loves ‘cake day’ in the dining hall twice a week and he buys Honey Buns by the box, as well as other pastries in the commissary on his weekly shopping day. He’s been known to eat an entire box of eight at one sitting.”

He’s regularly taunted by fellow inmates at Colorado’s Federal Correctional Institution in Englewood, where he’s called “Chomo,” short for child molester.

A recently released inmate from the Colorado lockup recalled an incident when Fogle was called a “dirty child rapist” and the sandwich man made the mistake of talking back.

“The inmate slapped him across the cheeks several times and made his face red. Jared just stood there stunned, then ran out of the gym,” the con recalled.

Most of the literature when I was working with offenders tended to a 30/70 split, around 30% had no prior indicators and just appeared to be born with the condition, 70% seemed to come from a background of prior abuse.
The complication being that all abusers tend to claim to be abused to elicite sympathy in court, although ironically the non previously abused offenders are the most likely to respond to treatment and stop offending.

The previously abused offenders are far less likely to stop offending as they tend to be also violent and hugely prone to addiction issues as well.

I've read pre sentence reports and case files where people raped children. Lots. I've personally seen cases where people who were sexual abused as kids (as in, I read the file from ten years ago where their uncle raped them) have grown up and are now committed rapes themselves.

For many offenders, it's absolutely a cycle.

They probably have him on anti-depressants as well. People tend to plump up quickly on them.

In a strange turn of events the prison has released footage of some recent heckling endured by Fogle.

Spoiler!

I didn't watch the footage just in case "heckling" is euphemism for something else. Don't want to see that.

Haha with that thumbnail you may think it was something bad but it's not. I would think any self respecting person would remember the scene from Shawshank and know there is nothing NSFW in it.

People tend to eat more when they're depressed and don't know any better way of distracting themselves.

The heavier duty anti depressants and anti psychotics do cause weight gain though. They are better than they used to be but you still put on a huge amount.

Yeah, it's no wonder people end up refusing to stay on them. Depression can make some lose weight if the depression also has anxiety along with in.

I have friends that work in the prison system. I remember commenting to one before how it seems like a lot of people in jail gain weight from the time they are arrested to the time they actually start the trial. She told me most inmates that are facing long sentences fall into depression and get prescribed anti-depressants which makes them gain weight fast.
