Oh what a game that would have been if they had just followed my lead and lynched Oling before Aeneas. I really would like to know if we could have gotten HG15. If Oling had gone first, and then Aeneas instead of me, it would have been seven on one on the opening of the next day. Actually, if GGG had been night killed after Aeneas's lynching like he was supposed to be, I might have been able to stop the crazy train. When both GGG and starseed were coming at me, and Pux and Drury following along, with the two mafia votes, I didn't stand much of a chance. I still think it's ridiculous what happened.

Or instead of lynching me twice people could have lynched my list at that point of Diss, Oling, Girly, Aeneas and we would all have been fine. If I could have been killed my list would have sat there nicely directecting people where to go. Instead I stayed alive and got lynched again.

Really Oling and HG played a phenomenal game of encouraging us down the wrong paths.

Today's food for the semifinals is Korean of course

-----

HELLO!!!

We will begin Round 13 of CP The Genius.

Bizaro86 was eliminated in Round 12 and now there are 3 players remaining (squiggs96, Rathji, mrkajz44).

Gaudreaus are no longer a factor

The 13th Main Match is

HOW MUCH?

In How Much, you must deduce the price that the guests offered for a product and the player who guesses the highest price will get points and the lowest price will also get points.

This game will be played over 7 rounds and will be played with 5 special CP guests. (Names will not be revealed and originally there were 9 rounds but a couple of questions were deemed too personal or inappropriate).

The 5 guests are:
Calgary Accountant
New Zealand Chef
Ontario Police Officer
China School Admin
Calgary Systems Admin

Each of the 5 guests have already submitted their prices for 7 products. These prices were made based on their own values and the prices submitted by each guest will not be revealed to the other guests or players at the beginning of the game.

One product will be revealed each round. The products will be revealed in order of the lowest total price offered by the guests. Meaning the total price of the 5 guests combined for the product will be lowest in Round 1 and highest in Round 7.

Before the game begins, players will be shown the total price submitted by each guest for all 7 products.

In How Much, there are two types of questions that can be asked.

1. A price check on a guest (what is the price that China School Admin submitted? answer: $100)
2. A ranking check on a guest (What rank is the price that China School Admin submitted? answer: price is 2nd highest)
- if there is a tie for highest both will be considered 1st highest, if there is a tie for lowest both will be considered 5th highest.

For each round, the 3 Genius players will agree on a public question in the thread for a shared public clue to be displayed in the thread. Then each player will PM me a private question and get a private clue.

Once the two questions have been asked, using the clues for information, the players will PM me their guess for highest price and lowest price (just the price, not who submitted it). They can guess any price from $0.01 to $24,999.99. But they cannot exceed $25,000 total for the 7 rounds. Each round the money remaining for each player will be displayed.

The guest with the highest price and lowest price will then be revealed

Scoring

The player who guessed the highest price without going over and the lowest price without going under will receive points. If two players guessed the highest price, or if two players guessed the lowest price, the points will go to the third player. If all players guessed over, or all players guessed under or all players guessed the same amount, there will be no points given.

Examples:
Highest price was $1100 and lowest price was $500 and the guesses were
Player 1: $1200, $700
Player 2: $900, $600
Player 3: $800, $600

Player 2 would win highest because Player 1 went over, Player 1 would win lowest because Player 2 and 3 tied.

In Rounds 1,2,3,4 1 point will be given for highest and 1 point for lowest
In Rounds 5,6 2 points will be given for highest and 2 points for lowest
In Round 7 3 points will be given for highest and 3 points for lowest

However in Round 7, only 1 private clue will be allowed.

The player will the most points will Win and go to the Final, the remaining two players will go to the death match. If there is a tie for first then whoever got more points in Round 7 will win, if tied then Round 6 and so on.

Also with 22 points available, if a player reaches 12 points the game will end.

The key to this game will be how you ask your questions to target either highest or lowest.

Schedule
Friday
Round 1 deadline 3pm
Round 2 deadline 9pm
Monday
Round 3 deadline 3pm
Round 4 deadline 9pm
Tuesday
Round 5 deadline 11am
Round 6 deadline 3pm
Round 7 deadline 9pm

If there are any questions ask in this thread

Three questions from me:

1) What was the motivation for the guests to come up with their prices? (ie, what did you tell them when they were submitting their prices?)

2) When you say "Each round the money remaining for each player will be displayed", you are referring to the guests, yes?

3) I'm not sure how the $25K cap works, since I'm guessing two numbers? Is it just the higher number that I guess that reduces my $25K cap?

1) I told them it was for The Genius but not this game format specifically. They just answered questions honestly

2) No, referring to you. How much money you have left.

3) Both numbers submitted fall off the 25,000 cap.

Okay, so when they were submitting prices, they were trying their best to get the correct price I guess?

The $25K cap makes sense to me now.

One more question - the 3pm deadline is for our final submissions for the high/low numbers? So we have to agree on a joint question, ask our private questions, and then bid all prior to 3pm?

If that's the case, I'll kick off the group discussion: Knowing the ranking is probably the better thing to know so I'd be more inclined to ask that as a group question. Since New Zealand Chef sounds like a rocking job, I'd be interested in what rank his bid was for round one.

Any comments?

Even though you asked it before we knew the question, I am okay with this question for round 1.

Yeah, I jumped the gun a bit on that one, but the multiple steps before the deadline worried me.

Squiggs, are you good with knowing the rank of New Zealand Chef?
