I know Hamilton will end up on the team, but he should be above everyone not named Ekblad on that list.

Team Finland always has weak looking forwards on paper, but they always do well.
Guys like Hansen and Nielsen for team Europe don't look sexy but they'll work hard and are good players in a third line role.
Team Europe has way more, and better two way players than the under 23s for example.
Guys like Hossa, Kopitar, Chara, Josi, Nielsen.
Team Under-23's prize D-man Ekblad plays less than a minute per game on the PK........
I really think inexperience is going to bite them in the ass.

Rangers 2011 1st rounder. He's been in the NHL since 2012-13 (but has split his first 3 seasons between the NHL and AHL).
He has 17 goals and 17 assists this season already.

NA can play Gaudreau with McDavid just because it would be awesome. Or they might keep him with Monahan because of known chemistry.
We shall see if Bennett, Dougie and Kevin can make any teams. I think Brodie will make the Canadian team, and Gio has a shot (it might be vice versa because of rep).

Thats it! What a brilliant idea!
If you come in dead last in the NHL you have to play in the World Cup!
Its the 7th team!

Hamilton is better than at least 2 of those defencemen. Probably 3.

My only hope is that McLellan doesn't ruin everyone.

The way things are going, it's looking like Gio and Brodie are in tough for the initial roster of team Canada.

Statistically, he's better than all of them.
But Ekblad is dynamite.

I don't think that should come as a surprise.

For the lesser teams in tournaments like these, it's all about playing defense.
As examples, Switzerland regularly, and the Danes more recently, give teams fits because - with solid defensive play - they stay in the games long enough to be dangerous.
Team NA will be sexy and fun to watch, but defense is what makes you competitive (which is why Russia is a perpetual non-event in these things)

The U23 team's biggest issue is going to be inexperience on their blueline. Couturier is the best defensive player on that team by a mile, and he's a forward.

That's no surprise based on the success of the 2014 Olympic team. That team had Keith, Hamhuis, Weber, Doughty, Bouwmeester, Pietrangelo, Vlasic, and Subban.
I would suggest they'll name Keith, Weber, Doughty, and Pietrangelo today.
Subban, Vlasic, Gio, Brodie, Burns, and Seabrook will all be in conversation for the last 3 spots that get announced in June.

New York Rangers 1st rounder from a few years back. Had a breakout year this season, scoring 17 goals and putting up 34 points. Nothing amazing, but been decent and probably deserves a call up.

I get that, but Russia tends to finish better than the small countries in int'l tournaments because they are on a whole much more talented. To me, the Europe team just does not have enough game-breaking skill to win more than a game or two.
