I'll be curious to see how Obama will be viewed with revisionism in a few years. Probably pretty close with Clinton overall, though Bill obviously had broader appeal (white privilege!). But Obama was a centrist who occasionally went to the left, much like Clinton. Take out the racism and Obama's approval would probably be similar to Clinton's.

Bill Clinton would have been long dead. He was pretty unhealthy by the time he left office, and staying president wouldn't have granted the time he needed to get better.

I mean, Christie has to realize that he has destroyed his political future at this point, right?

Of course. Whatever Trump promised him better be worth it. But if we get Chris onstage for 6 more months with those types of priceless expressions, everyone wins (except Chris).

One remaining hurdle for Trump is proving he can win in closed (registered republicans only) primaries and caucuses. He's 1-of-4 in fully closed contests so far (Iowa, Oklahoma, Alaska, Nevada), and the calendar is switching to a phase where there's more closed contests: 8 of the 11 contests between now and March 15 are fully closed. March 15 slightly favours open or semi-closed caucuses, and then after that the schedule shifts heavily towards closed primaries again for the rest of the competition.
Last chance for the anyone but Trump group is to hit Trump hard now, create a narrative that he's not a true republican, limit his wins in these closed caucuses (they're mostly smaller delegate counts, so it's more about the narrative than the math), and then use those losses as evidence that he's not supported by true Republicans. As the emphasis shifts toward the larger closed primaries, I think the republican-in-name-only-hijacking-the-party narrative is going to be more effective than the current make-him-look-goofy campaign.

He has no political future. He has to vacate office at the end of his second term next year.

Great article on Christie last night
Quote:
Is Chris Christie okay?
I believe that Donald Trump was talking, tonight, and that he, in fact, held an entire press conference. But it was impossible to hear him over Chris Christie’s eyes.
Chris Christie spent the entire speech screaming wordlessly. I have never seen someone scream so loudly without using his mouth before. It would have been remarkable if it had not been so terrifying.
Sometimes, at night, do you still hear them, Clarice? The screaming of the Christies?
His were the eyes of a man who has gazed into the abyss, and the abyss gazed back, and then he endorsed the abyss.
It was not a thousand-yard stare. That would understate the vast and impenetrable distance it encompassed.
He looked as if he had seen a ghost and the ghost had made him watch Mufasa die again.

What political future?
He's been a Governor and he has no shot at the big chair. That's pretty much clear language that it's time for the private sector.

He's only got 34% of the Republican vote, nevermind the rest. With his Mexico stance and kkk snafu, can't see minorities on his side. So no, I don't see it

Nomination obviously, but he's bringing a lot of new and non-traditional GOP voters over to the republicans - particularly blue collar Democrats.
What seemed to be a joke candidacy several months ago is steadily inching towards reality.

Take your sensical talk out of this thread! You are posting in a thread where the posters actually think Hillary is a good choice for president!!!! She's a criminal! If the Democratic party wants a criminal as their candidate what does that make the democratic party? Unbelievable.
Hillary stands no chance. Bernie voters would rather vote trump then the criminal. Trump is bringing record voters to the polls. The turnout to the republican vote has be 40-60% higher than the democrats in the primaries. How do you think that will translate to the general election?

He SAYS he's doing that but is there any proof of that? This is sort of how his campaign works, just chuck garbage at the wall and hope no one bothers fact checking. When they do fact check then call them a liar.
Never mind his ridiculously poor likeability numbers and that I've yet to see a single poll that thinks he could best either Democrat in a general election. He may con the frothing at the mouth conservatives into a nomination but there has yet to be any evidence (to my knowledge) that he can win the general.

Hmmm, presidential candidates that could be considered criminals....
Do they have to be criminals before nomination, or does becoming one once in office count?
