While I think both Gio and TJ should make Team Canada, I'm no so sure either will be on the preliminary 16 team list next week.
I would guess that list would be something like:
Crosby, Benn, Seguin, Toews, Stamkos, Tavares, Giroux, Nash, Bergeron, Duchene
Doughty, Weber, Keith, Burns
Price, Holtby

TSN just had their Team Canada projections up. They have Brodie making the team, but left off Gio. I'd take Gio before Seabrook or Pietrangelo at this point.

Don't really see how Rick Nash deserves to be on this team. I'd put Hall in over him.

I believe they are trying to put together a championship TEAM.

Hall will not be in those discussions.

I love Gio, and I know as Flames fans many of us would love to see him selected for something like this (however some wouldn't because they don't want him worn down, or any Flames for that matter) but when it comes to picking Canadian D-men for this team you really can't go wrong IMO with picks like Petro or Seabrook. These guys are the real deal and I find it hard to criticize anyone for picking them ahead of even a great D-man like Gio. Just to be in the conversation means you are a phenomenal D-man.

Hall is a good player. It's not his fault the Oilers have, at best, one top four defenceman. Any time he's been on a good team, the results have been there. Two time Memorial Cup winner and a World Championship gold last year.

Hall is a good player if we are talking about a fantasy league and you need points.

He has low hockey IQ, bad defensively, lazy, and just makes bad decisions all over the ice.

I'd want him no where near the team.

Finland's coach named these guys as candidates for the final d spots:

Marjamäki named 8 D-men candidates: Jokipakka, Pokka, Lindbohm, Honka, Hietanen, Lepistö, Kukkonen, Jaakola.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames RW Michael Frolik named to Team Czech for 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

No Hudler, he seems to have problems with the Czech National program... left off the last olympic team too.

No surpise Jagr is not on... he has hinted he retired from international competitions.

The Czech defence is so weak. Everything else looks decent though.

Can't imagine Hudler won't be on the final roster.
