Johnny is 6th overall in league scoring.

McDavid is a great player and special talent. But until he's scoring at that clip over a whole season, it's outright ridiculous to suggest there's "No comparison".

It's not a slight to McDavid to give Gaudreau all the credit he deserves for being a very special talent and having reached superstar status in just his second pro season.

If anything, it seems you've bought into the mass media and hype campaign handing the keys to McDavid as the face of the NHL having bumped Crosby off the world's best player mantle - before he's played a full season.

There's no need for you to be telling Flames fans to take the homer glasses off because they're talking about Johnny potentially winning Art Ross Trophies. In his second pro season, he's five spots away, and that's currently a lot closer than McDavid at such a small sample size.
Give 30 gms a choice between the two. You won't find a single one who would pick Johnny

The conversation was about hockey pool for next year. I'll bet you that McDavid gets at least ten more points than Gaudreau next year

^ You said there's "No comparison", when at current, there very much is.

Just no need to be a wet blanket for no reason.

I don't think so. Teams are starting to figure out McDavid. He has, what, one goal in his last eight games and a handful of second assists?

Gaudreau's been in the league longer and has more of an ability to adjust to team defences. If I'm in a hockey pool next season I take Gaudreau. If it's a keeper league I take McDavid.

EDIT: Not to mention durability. The more games you play the more points you get.

Blech... why do we have to talk about McDick in a Gaudreau thread?

Countdown to the Lady Byng as well. It'll be close between him and Tyler Seguin this year.

If they repeated last year, they would have the exact same amount of points as last year.

Seriously, though. On a scale of 10-10, how good is Johnny Gaudreau?

I think 40 assists is looking pretty safe. I'm going to update the goal to 45 now.

He's on pace for 84 points.

The fun number is 90, which hasn't been hit by any Flame since Iginla got 98 in 2007-2008.

Johnny has 14 points in 10 games since him and Monahan got benched. Think he got the message?

That and he needs to make up for the 5 point game he would've had against the Leafs!

If you're assuming that his quality of play was lacking, I don't think he needed to be sent that message. You can tell the kid is passionate and loves hockey. Not only that he wants to score and win.
