This played on the Fifth Estate in early October. I thought it was a lot of stuff that had been brought out about Cheney before - the Halliburton connections, the deferrments. Cheney has always struck me as the prototypical Capitalist. He'll do anything for a buck and lacks any semblance of a moral compass. He's a user and abuser who effectively exploits the situation for all it's worth.

Well, I hope he's unelected in a few days but as to being a user and abuser you might be failing to acknowledge in 2000 Cheney made charitable contributions of $7,841,646 and, I think, has made contributions of about $350,000 per year since.
I agree those contributions are part of a tax strategy but that doesn't diminish the fact of the gift.
The CBC, by the way, was taken to task in a National Post editorial a few days ago for pronounced bias in its presentation of the USA election. Its a subscriber only link. They mentioned the Cheney documentary as part of their case.

OK. I take it back. He's a great guy. Too bad he doesn't display that level of charity in his job. Kind of reminds me of the guy that recycles all his papers and tin cans and then pours his motor oil down the storm sewer.
I agree that it was a biased report. It didn't quite reach the level of Michael Moore, but I wouldn't call it the peak of investigative journalism. In their defense, only one side was talking. I think a lot of the secrecy you see in the present administration is something that comes directly from Cheney. He's an old school politician that believes the government business is its own business.

Their editorial page is right wing, no doubt.
Still, when the CBC sticks its chin out like it did, they shouldn't be surprised when someone takes a swing.
And I didn't say Cheney was a nice guy. I said there are two sides to it. He might be a w**ker for all I know.

And the source they're commenting on, the CBC, can be considered clear and un-biased?
To me, it's just one cancelling out the other.

Well, it agrees with their position, so it isn't un-biased.

Now, don't bite my head off here... but is the CBC really THAT left wing? I think they lean left, its noticable. But they aren't the ying to FoxNews' yang.

I'm not going to pretend that I know the political spectrum as well as some on this forum, but I'd say that CBC is as left as the National Post is right...
I haven't ever seen FoxNews (and don't think I'm missing too much), so I won't bring that into it.
