Gives us a lot of ammo to try and deal up if the lottery results don't go our way. Trader Brad may be able to trade up into the top 3 from the 4-6 range.

Isn't the draft considerably weak after the top 15 or so? Im thinking Treliving will use these assets like last draft to grab a player that we need.

Hopefully can turn our early 2nd and one of the two later ones into a late 1st. Brad owes the draft watchers for missing out on the pomp and circumstance of round one last year.

Well maybe it is, certainly not the depth of last year, but that doesn't mean there isn't a plethora of players to be found after pick 15.

There could be gems to be found in the 2nd round.

McKenzie said that prospects ranked 21 to 51 on his list are essentially interchangeable. It is a perfect opportunity for the scouting staff to get some guys in the 2nd round that are gems in rough.

The scouts will be licking their chops...until BT trades all the 2nd through 4th round picks the day of the draft.

also only 48M against the cap next year and nakladal is the only ufa on the 15/16 active roster, oh and ramo and hiller, aaannd backstrom.
flames got picks/prospects for 3/4 ufa skaters.

that's how you sell on deadline day.

My money is on the flames using some of these to shore up the goaltending.

5 in the top 65 or so. Not too shabby.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Great flexibility with all these picks.

-Can trade them for established NHLers. 2nd rounder for a 2nd line winger for example.
-Can trade them for a young goalie
-Can use them to pick good prospects
-Can package them up to deal up. You could deal up higher in the 1st. Or perhaps package up three 2nds and get a 1st.

Just like last year we're in a really good position heading into the draft. This year our draft position will be much, much better as well. Gonna be a crazy draft for Treliving.
