Forget where, what do any of them mean? People post all these graphs with no explanation and I have no idea how to read them or why they're important

War on ice (For most stats, advanced or otherwise)
Puckalytics (for with-or-without you stats)
Natural Stat Trick (for single game with or without you type stats)
Hockeystats.ca (for single game corsi charts, just to show momentum swings)

All the information is gathered by computer programs from NHL shot data/game data that the NHL records and puts on their website.

The computer programs put them in databases and calculates the stats

Who puts the data onto the NHL website? People at the arena who get paid by the NHL to record stats.

Yes War-on-Ice will be shutting down in the coming months.

They have a blog post detailing how they built it: http://blog.war-on-ice.com/so-you-wa...ey-database-2/

This would be the easiest thing in the world to figure out, there are literally dozens of "introduction to advanced stats" articles ready for your googling pleasure.

I also use stats.hockeyanalysis.com, but it's really a matter of what layout seems intuitive. Some people find that site terribly confusing to use. For me it's by far the fastest to find the info I want, which is usually basic possession stuff, WOWY info, shot rates in different game states, save percentage in different game states, shooting percentage and IPP. It's good for the numbers; it's not useful at all for charts or other visual stuff.
