So that means the pick can be anywhere from the ~26th overall to the 60th depending on whether both conditions are met or not?

So Russell has to play 50% of the games in the first two rounds in order for that to turn into a 1st.

The Fan guys seem to think they should slot Jyrki with Hamilton starting tonight if possible. This will be interesting last 20 games of this season.
I want more trades!!!

GIS of his name confirms this, unless every picture of him was flipped and edited.

Probably the best possible return for Russell who is a polarizing player amongst armchair GMs and bloggers alike.
Actual real GMs with real hockey jobs clearly think he can help a team.
Even these three assets don't work out long term, you have to say it's a good deal.

I don't know much about either player but I guess I've found a team to cheer for in the playoffs. Until the Western final anyway.

Treliving sure "rustled" up a good haul for Russell.

So the Flames turned a 5th rounder into 2.75 years of a solid #3-4 defenceman, another NHL defenceman, a prospect and a 2nd / 1st. Solid asset management in my books.

Assuming Chicago pulls away and takes the Division, that means Dallas and St. Louis in the first round. Decent -- I'll take it.
Round 2 will be interesting -- at that point the seeding is refreshed, correct? May end up with LA or ANA depending on who gets out of the first round...
EDIT: Corrected by a couple posters below -- Round 2 is still within the division, so Chicago it is...

So basically this works out to a 2014 5th for a 2016 2nd and the two prospects.
That is pretty good asset management?

Well as long as the Stars stay 2nd or 3rd in their division whey will avoid them in the first round. Then we need a serious upset by Colorado (most likely) or Nashville.

I am very okay with this deal! Upgraded to a younger Russell, got a promising prospect, and a decent pick (with potential to become a better one)
In Brad we trust. Awesome job Mr Treliving.
