Schultz doesn't have a terrible contract with term left after this year and he's only 25 years old.

Burke on Sportnet re-iterates that there is enough interest in Russell that he will be traded today.

To retain him, Schultz needs to be qualified @ around $4.0 m. That is beyond terrible, and I don't care how old he is.
Wideman is not untradeable. Terrible players with terrible contracts get traded often.

Burke also said that a goalie deal likely to wait until the off season. Sounds like the net is Ortio's for the rest of this season.

I wouldn't say that considering Hiller is starting tonight.

That's the point...no one in their right mind will qualify Schultz so he'll be UFA and purely a rental. Wideman brings term to a team...

Unless Dennis has already told them he won't waive his NMC, why the !@#$ not?

If that is true then Dallas is not interested in a Russell rental

It's not a certainty that Russell is a rental. He's 28. Could be a piece long-term.

Because no one wants him now. His value is extremely low when no one knows when he'll be back, and he has 1 more year at $5.5M.

If you can get a single 2nd round pick you trade Kris Russell. And I hate picks.
Treliving, this is the biggest moment of your career with the team. Do. not. miss. this. opportunity.

Ask yourself how you would react if the Flames were in a playoff position and gave up assets for a player who cost 5.25 million for this year and next year while still suspended and not able to contribute to your playoff push.
It's not that he isnt available, it's that nobody wants him

Just to add to this Stars have 3 of their top 6 as pending UFAs, not unfeasible for them to re-sign Russell
