Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Tkachuk and Chychrun should be the top 5 we target. Dubois over, say Nylander - yeah I'm on board with that. But ahead of any of those 5? No thanks.
|
Dubois > Tkachuk and Chychrun depending on position preference. Dubois could keep climbing, catch the Finns. Prepare your butts.

With that said though, Dubois looked like one of the best players in the Canada Russia series (if not the best), and physically it looks like he has all the tools to be a very good NHLer.
But I think, at least right now, there is slightly more risk picking a player from the Q than the other two leagues.

I'm not saying it's a given that top players from the QMJHL don't transition to the NHL. MacKinnon is a top 3 skater in the league. I just see slightly more risk picking from the Q. The potential checks out.
(Though as Textcritic pointed out, I had thought MacKinnon would have been a little further along at this point).

Yea I was expecting around 70-80 points from MacKinnon this year.

I also think I would prefer the defenseman. As promising as the Flames look on the blue line, I think they still need more size / edge.

The difference seems to be attitude. Apparently, Dubois already has the coachability and relentless work ethic of a pro. I like him better than Tkachuk or Nylander.

It's true about the Q, if you look through the last 4 or 5 drafts the results from highly ranked Q players is mostly underwhelming.
No idea should be damning for Dubois or not, just saying.

This is normal. Too early in the morning to get any trades. It's always busiest the two hours before the deadline... or two minutes.

Some question if Stars are willing to give up what the Flames want

#CBJ rookie F Kerby Rychel was walking out of Madison Square Garden as I walked in. This is not an optional skate today.
